Two top
deputies to Speaker John Boehner defended on his behalf the tactic of forcing
members to vote on legislation they haven’t yet read in Monday evening’s more
than two-hour-long conference meeting of Republican members, one of the members
challenging Boehner for Speaker told Breitbart News exclusively.
Rep. Ted Yoho
(R-FL), a candidate joining Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) to challenge Boehner for
Speaker on Tuesday, told Breitbart News that he stood up and offered in
conference that Republicans should not vote on legislation without having 72
hours to read it at a minimum. But Yoho (pictured) was met with fierce
opposition from both House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Whip
Steve Scalise.
It got turned
down. Mr. Scalise and Mr. McCarthy talked against it so it would cripple
our hand, because they have to do these things short notice. But to me, that’s
a lack of leadership, and that’s the whole reason we have to do what we’re
doing in the House—that’s a perfect example. The argument was, well, if the
bill came out with language on Tuesday at 9 o’clock at night, that would mean
we would have to stay here until Friday to vote on it. Why not stay here until
next week and give members more than two or three days to read a bill? These
things—they’re ridiculous. The American people expect and deserve better from
us, and they deserve better, and that’s why we need different leadership.
When asked
about how this relates to what former Speaker Nancy Pelosi infamously said
about Obamacare—that members had to pass it to find out what is in it—Yoho said
there is no difference between Pelosi’s or Boehner’s tactics, and every member
who votes for Boehner on Tuesday will be voting for less transparency that has
been happening under the status quo in Washington.
“I don’t see any
difference in that, no,” Yoho said of comparisons between Pelosi and Boehner
speakership tactics.
Yoho also said
that he thinks there are enough members voting against Boehner to kick the
speakership vote to a second ballot.
“I think
you’ll see enough,” Yoho said. “We have another one who came out tonight—Curt
Clawson of Florida. The phone lines are burning up with people thanking him, as
mine have. We got hundreds of calls tonight just thanking us.”
They need 29
members total voting against Boehner to get there, and right now, there are 10
who publicly have pledged they will vote against him—and many more who
campaigned on it but haven’t since reaffirmed their pledges. Grassroots
opposition to Boehner has poured into Congress, and the Capitol Hill switchboard
has been busy all day Monday.

A huge manhunt is under way in Paris after three masked and hooded gunmen armed with
Kalashnikovs and a rocket-launcher stormed the offices of the satirical
magazine Charlie Hebdo this morning, killing 12 people – including two
policemen – before escaping in a hijacked car, report Kim
Willsher and Jon
Henley:
A spokeswoman for the Paris
prosecutor’s office, Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre, confirmed that 12 people had been
killed in the attack. Witnesses and police sources said three men carrying
automatic rifles and a rocket-launcher arrived at the building that houses the
magazine’s offices, in rue Nicolas Appert in the eastern 11th arrondissement.
Cries of “Allahu Akbar” were heard, they said.
“We heard shouting in the street,”
Benoît Bringer, who works at a press agency on the same floor as the magazine’s
offices, told France Info radio. “We saw hooded men
carrying Kalashnikovs entering the building. We called the police. After a few
minutes we heard heavy firing – a lot of firing, a hell of a lot. We went
upstairs to take shelter on the roof. Then after about 10 minutes we saw two
armed men come out onto the street. There was more shouting, more firing.
“Three policemen had arrived on bikes
but had to leave because the men were armed, obviously … Then the attackers
took off in a car.”
Another, unnamed witness from an
office across the corridor said she and her colleagues had heard “a huge boom.
The someone opened the door to our office and asked where Charlie Hebdo was. He
had a rifle. We backed away. Afterwards he left, we heard gunfire. We went to
the windows, there were two men running with guns, speaking in bad French …
They were shouting outside, and shooting again. Afterwards I saw someone
leaving the building with his hands covered in blood.”

Reuters reports that an internal email
from Danish media group JP/Politikens Hus, whose newspaper Jyllands-Posten published
cartoons in 2005 depicting the Prophet Muhammad, shows the paper has
increased its security level because of the shooting in Paris.
Social media users are expressing
solidarity with Charlie Hebdo’s journalists by using the hashtag #JeSuisCharlie,
reports my colleague Elena Cresci.
Among the first to tweet using the
hashtag was Thierry Puget (@titi1960),
who tweeted an image which is now being widely shared by those wanting to
express solidarity with the victims of the attack.
Around an hour after news of the
shooting broke, #JeSuisCharlie began trending on Twitter worldwide:

According to Twitter analytics tool
Topsy, there have been more than 70,000 tweets using the hashtag so far today.

French interior minister: 'We will
catch these three criminals'
The French interior minister, Bernard
Cazeneuve, has been speaking to the press outside the emergency
cabinet meeting that is still ongoing:
He said there was now a high-security
alert throughout French territory.
All prosecutors have been asked to
take all precautions to protect publications, cultural institutions and public
places, he added.
All measures were being taken “to
neutralise these three criminals who have committed this barbaric act”; all
resources have been mobilised, he added, mentioning the gendarmerie and the
military.
Cazeneuve said the authorities were
moving as fast as possible to find the aggressors and arrest them.
He said the authorities would be
coordinating services and broadcasting “necessary information … so the French
people will be informed on a continuous basis about the progress of the
inquiry”.

captures the moment two gunmen shoot and apparently kill a police officer on a

Four of the Charlie Hebdo journalists
believed to have been killed in today’s attack have been named by French media.
They are the magazine’s editor and
cartoonist, Stéphane Charbonnier, known as
Charb; and three other cartoonists: Cabu,Georges Wolinski and Bernard Verlhac, known as Tignous.
The Guardian is awaiting official confirmation of these names.
The German chancellor, Angela
Merkel, has made a statement on the attack:
This abominable act is not only an
attack on the lives of French citizens and their security.
It is also an attack on freedom of
speech and the press, core elements of our free democratic culture. In no way
can this be justified.
Press Association reports that Charlie
Hebdo’s editor-in-chief,Gérard
Biard, escaped the attack because he was in London:
He told France Inter: “I am shocked
that people can have attacked a newspaper in France, a secular republic. I
don’t understand it.
“I
don’t understand how people can attack a newspaper with heavy weapons. A
newspaper is not a weapon of war.”
Biard said he did not believe the
attack was linked to the
magazine’s latest front page, which featured novelist Michel Houellebecq,
who has previously sparked controversy with comments about Islam.
And he said the magazine had not
received threats of violence: “Not to my knowledge, and I don’t think anyone
had received them as individuals, because they would have talked about it.
There was no particular tension at the moment.”

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) did not waste time punishing those who
publicly betrayed him.
After securing his third term as speaker, the Ohio Republican
immediately moved to take revenge on those who crossed him.
Politico, citing sources familiar with the decision, reported that Boehner will strip Florida Reps. Daniel
Webster and Richard Nugent of their prestigious spots on the House Rules Committee. Webster
ran against Boehner for speaker and was supported by Nugent.

The House Republican leadership is carefully reviewing the list of
members who voted against the speaker and those who opposed a procedural motion
in December on the so-called “crominibus,” the $1.1 trillion spending package
to keep the government open through to September.
Subcommittee chairmanships might be stripped and other perks could fall
away, top Republican sources suggested, in a process that could take months to
unfold.
“This is one of those cases where the fire has only gotten more
intense,” said a GOP lawmaker. “More attention has been brought to this now.
It’s not going to away.”
25 Republicans ultimately voted against him, more than twice the number
of GOP members that crossed Boehner two years ago.

EJE OBAMA-FRANCISCO: CUBA,
PRESTIDIGITACIÓN Y CONFUSIÓN

Cuba, mi patria natal, acaba de completar 56
años de martirio bajo una nefasta revolución comunista. Delante de ese drama
gigantesco, y de ese trágico aniversario, sobre la faz de la tierra no se
oyeron casi voces de indignación ante una situación que clama a los cielos.
Muchos gobiernos que año tras año rasgan sus vestiduras en la ONU para condenar
el llamado “embargo externo” estadounidense, enviaron mensajes de saludo a los
tiranos castristas y ni siquiera dijeron media palabra sobre el implacable
“embargo interno” del régimen contra 12 millones de habitantes de la
isla-cárcel.
Estamos en presencia de uno de los mayores
ejemplos de prestidigitación publicitaria de la Historia: un régimen que
durante décadas fue la punta de lanza de sangrientas revoluciones en América
Latina y África, y que hoy continúa tendiendo cordones umbilicales ideológicos
en las tres Américas, de una merecida imagen de agresor pasó a tener la más
mendaz imagen de víctima.
Son innumerables los casos de ayuda
internacional al régimen cubano, que han permitido y permiten su supervivencia.
Después del gigantesco respaldo económico de la Unión Soviética, hasta su
derrumbe; de Venezuela chavista hasta su actual desintegración; y del Brasil
lulista-dilmista, ahora con las arcas más vacías, surge en las Américas el
inesperado “eje” Obama – Francisco. Un sui géneris “eje” político-espiritual
que, independientemente de las intenciones de tan altos personeros, pasará a
abastecer con ríos de dinero y de prestigio publicitario al aparato represivo
del régimen.
El 19 de diciembre, dos días después que en
Roma, Washington y La Habana se anunciara simultáneamente el restablecimiento
de las relaciones diplomáticas entre el gobierno estadounidense y la dictadura cubana,
una embarcación de la Guardia Costera castrista, presumiblemente en aguas
internacionales, comenzó a embestir contra una lancha en la cual huían de Cuba
32 personas, incluyendo siete mujeres y dos niños, hasta hundir la frágil
embarcación. Esos cubanos simplemente buscaban la libertad e intentaban romper
el ignominioso “embargo interno” que la tiranía castrista impone a sus
habitantes.

Castellano, una sobreviviente, esposa de Leosbel Díaz Beoto, quien murió
ahogado, narró por teléfono posteriormente: “Estábamos gritando, pedíamos
auxilio, que nos ayudaran porque la lancha se estaba hundiendo. Pero ellos no
hacían caso. Lo que hacían era ir para arriba de la lancha. Unas personas se
tiraban al agua y otros nos quedamos ahí y la lancha se iba hundiendo”. “Ellos
sabían que habían niños pero seguían para arriba de nosotros. No les
importaba”. Fue una acción brutal por parte de un régimen que se siente con las
espaldas cubiertas por poderosos aliados. El criminal hecho, que tanto
comprometía al régimen castrista, habría merecido un clamor mundial de repudio,
pero casi no fue destacado por la prensa internacional, por los gobiernos
occidentales, por organizaciones defensoras de los “derechos humanos” y, ¡oh
dolor! por eclesiásticos que deberían imitar al Buen Pastor, dispuestos a dar
la vida por sus ovejas.
El 31 de diciembre pp., en La Habana,
coincidiendo con los 56 años de revolución, se desató una ola represiva contra
opositores que intentaban simplemente reunirse en la Plaza de la Revolución, lo
que ilustra, como si hubiera alguna duda, las reales disposiciones del régimen.
En los Estados Unidos, diversos especialistas
han mostrado de manera documentada cómo el acercamiento casi incondicional del
gobierno estadounidense favorece al régimen cubano y perjudica la causa de la
libertad en la isla, cuyos habitantes quedarán todavía más a merced de los
tiranos; y han criticado duramente, en consecuencia, al presidente Obama (cf.
“Cuban dissidents blast Obama’s betrayal”, Marc A. Thiessen, Washington Post,
Dic. 29, 2014; “Obama le da al régimen de Castro en Cuba un rescate
inmerecido”, Editorial en español e inglés, Washington Post, Dic. 17, 2014).
No obstante, pocos analistas señalan el
aspecto más grave y trágico de ese acuerdo: la responsabilidad que cabe a su
artífice y mediador más eminente, el pontífice Francisco. El 17 de diciembre
pp., el propio día del anuncio del restablecimiento de relaciones diplomáticas,
Francisco, junto con reafirmar su papel mediador, saludó la liberación de
“algunos detenidos”, sin siquiera insinuar que en Cuba el sistema comunista
mantiene subyugados no a “algunos” sino a 12 millones de cubanos. Es sumamente
doloroso decirlo, pero la bota con la cual Castro continúa aplastando a mis
hermanos de la isla, tiene ahora un altísimo aval.
Es preciso recordar que del lado castrista,
los “detenidos” eran en realidad espías cubanos procesados y condenados por la
Justicia estadounidense por complicidad en el asesinato de los jóvenes de
Hermanos al Rescate y por planes para introducir explosivos en Miami para
realizar actos terroristas. Por tal motivo, el cabecilla de los “detenidos”
castristas tenía dos condenas de por vida.
No es la primera vez que Francisco,
independientemente de sus intenciones, adopta actitudes que objetivamente
favorecen a las izquierdas continentales, políticas y eclesiásticas. Por
ejemplo, se realizó en Roma, del 27 al 29 de octubre pp., el Encuentro Mundial
de Movimientos Populares que reunió a 100 líderes revolucionarios del mundo
entero, incluyendo conocidos agitadores profesionales latinoamericanos, y que
contó con la presencia del propio Francisco. Es como si se hubiese realizado
una especie de “beatificación” publicitaria, en vida, de esas actuantes figuras
revolucionarias de inspiración marxista, sui géneris “beatos” de una “iglesia
al revés”, contraria a la doctrina social de la Iglesia defendida por
antecesores de Francisco (cf. “El Papa saluda y bendice”, L’Osservatore Romano,
Oct. 28, 2014; “Francisco, ‘beatificación’ publicitaria de revolucionarios y
‘vendaval’ social”, Destaque Internacional, Nov. 02, 2014).
Tuve ocasión de comentar otros hechos en el
mismo sentido, cuando Francisco revocó la “suspensión a divinis” del sacerdote
nicaragüense Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, de la tristemente célebre orden de
Maryknoll, ex canciller sandinista y una de las figuras más pro-castristas de
la teología de la liberación. El sacerdote D’Escoto había sido sancionado por
el Vaticano en 1984, por su participación en la persecución a los católicos
nicaragüenses durante el primer gobierno sandinista (cf. “Francisco,
procastristas y confusión”, Armando Valladares, Agosto 06, 2014).
Lamentablemente, con relación a Cuba y América
latina, esos dichos, hechos y gestos del pontífice Francisco van favoreciendo
directa o indirectamente la opresión del pueblo cubano y la izquierdización del
continente. Queda flotando en el aire la sensación de que, bajo los referidos
aspectos, estaríamos en presencia de un pontificado marcado por la confusión y
hasta por el caos, con preocupantes consecuencias para el futuro político,
social y cristiano de las Américas.
En cuanto católico y en cuanto ex preso
político cubano, que pasó 22 años en las mazmorras castristas, y vio su fe
fortalecida al oír los gritos de los jóvenes católicos que morían en el
“paredón” gritando “¡Viva Cristo Rey, abajo el comunismo!”, debo manifestar las
perplejidades, angustias y dramas interiores que suscitan los hechos arriba
narrados. Se trata de una situación de las más dolorosas que pueden existir,
porque dicen respecto a los vínculos con la Santa Sede. No obstante, como ya he
tenido ocasión de manifestar, la fe de los católicos debe quedar intacta y
hasta fortalecida ante estos dilemas, porque en materias políticas y
diplomáticas ni siquiera los papas están asistidos por la infalibilidad. Y no
existe para los católicos la obligación de aceptar esos dichos y hechos, en la
medida en que discrepen de la línea tradicionalmente adoptada por la Iglesia
con relación al comunismo.

House reauthorizes special committee probing
Benghazi attack

WASHINGTON (AP) — The GOP-led House voted Tuesday to
extend a special committee's investigation into the deadly 2012 attacks on an
American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans,
including a U.S. ambassador.
The move to reauthorize the politically charged panel
was included in a rules package for the new Congress that passed 234 to 172,
mostly along party lines.
Five Democrats on the select committee lamented the
reauthorization, which set no limit on the committee's budget or time frame,
which means it could last well into the presidential election year. Hillary
Rodham Clinton, a possible Democratic presidential candidate, could be called
to testify about the attack, which occurred while she was secretary of state.
A report by the House Intelligence Committee found
that the CIA and the military acted properly in responding to the 2012 attack.
Debunking a series of persistent allegations hinting at dark conspiracies, the
panel determined that there was no intelligence failure, no delay in sending a
CIA rescue team, no missed opportunity for a military rescue and no evidence
the CIA was covertly shipping arms from Libya to Syria.
"After eight months and more than a million
taxpayer dollars spent, it remains unclear what new questions the select
committee seeks to answer," the Democrats said in a statement. "Since
our members were denied the ability to meaningfully debate or amend the
resolution, we now look to the committee to quickly adopt rules that ensure
that our Democratic members are able to participate fully in the
investigation."
The five Democrats are Reps. Elijah Cummings of
Maryland, Adam Smith of Washington, Adam Schiff of California, Linda Sanchez of
California and Tammy Duckworth of Illinois.
The special Benghazi panel is reviewing efforts to
secure U.S. diplomatic facilities and personnel as it continues investigating
the September 2012 attacks that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens,
foreign service officer Sean Smith, and two CIA contractors, Tyrone S. Woods
and Glen Doherty. A Libyan extremist, Ahmed Abu Khatalla, is facing trial on
murder charges after he was captured in Libya and taken to the U.S.

Siempre tuve la esperanza de que
cualquier cambio que hubiera en Cuba en relación con el mundo, fuera producido
por su propio pueblo, en un grandioso acto de valor que lo redimiera de la
vergonzosa mansedumbre, salvo honrosas excepciones, con que se ha dejado
pisotear durante cincuenta y cinco años por la tiranía brutal de los hermanos
Castro.
Como cubana disidente que se enfrentó
al sistema y fue perseguida, se vio forzada a abandonar su patria, lo perdió
todo, tuvo que volver a empezar desde cero en una tierra extraña y durante
cuarenta y ocho años arrastra la nostalgia del exilio, me causa un gran dolor
que el cambio anhelado salga de un oscuro trámite entre el presidente del país
adonde vine en busca de libertad y el dictador del país que abandoné porque no
la había, ni tampoco creo que la haya a pesar de los acuerdos que se están
tomando entre ambos gobiernos.
Pero bueno, ya Obama se ha colgado en
la solapa la medallita de las relaciones diplomáticas con Cuba y parafraseando
a Ricardo Montaner, se ha “clavado” en la historia. De paso, al liberar a los
espías que habían sido juzgados y encontrado culpables sin alguna duda
razonable, hizo buena la promesa de Raúl Castro de que ellos “volverían a Cuba”
y para decirlo groseramente, porque no merece otra forma, “se limpió” con la
sentencia de los honorables jueces de la Corte Suprema de los Estado Unidos,
estableciendo un precedente de irrespeto hacia las leyes de esta nación que,
por supuesto, también pasará a la historia.
¿Que importan los miles de ejecutados
en los paredones de fusilamiento por el delito de disentir? ¿Ni los cientos de
prisioneros de conciencia muertos en las cárceles a bayonetazos, por tortura,
por falta de medicamentos? ¿Y los que se echaron al mar en embarcaciones
frágiles, en balsas, y se ahogaron o fueron devorados por los tiburones o
fallecieron de sed o de hambre? ¿Qué importa la destrucción, el sufrimiento de
las separaciones familiares, el horror, la miseria, el odio sembrado entre
hermanos, la desesperanza que la revolución socialista desató sobre un país
próspero y feliz que estaba a la cabeza de las naciones latinoamericanas?
Ya el presidente Obama restableció las
relaciones con Cuba. Aquí no ha pasado nada.
Hace apenas un año descubrieron en
Panamá un barco que salió de La Habana cargado con armas de guerra
sin declarar con destino a Corea del Norte ¿Qué importa? Vamos a sacar a Cuba
de la lista de países que promueven el terrorismo.
¿Qué importa que el presidente
Kennedy, demócrata, nos traicionara cuando Playa Girón? ¿Se imaginan cuánto
dolor y cuántos muertos nos hubiéramos ahorrado si en el año 1961 aporta a la
invasión la ayuda que prometió y desde entonces nuestro país hubiera vuelto a
ser libre? ¿Qué importa que después tramitara cobardemente el futuro de Cuba,
comprometiéndose con los rusos a que jamás los Estados Unidos rozarían a los
Castro ni con el pétalo de una rosa a cambio de que le sacaran los cohetes de
la isla? ¿Qué importa que otro presidente demócrata, Bill Clinton, sin tener en
cuenta que la madre del niño Elián murió por traerlo a un país libre, ordenara
que a punta de rifles lo sacaran del hogar de sus abuelos para ser devuelto a
Cuba, donde lo convirtieron en una cacatúa repitiendo consignas como “seremos
como el che” y otras sandeces panfletarias? ¿Y qué importa que este mismo
presidente demócrata, Clinton, decretara la ley más cruel que existe, la de
“pies secos, pies mojados”?
Resulta muy romántico que” los

The U.S. economy and financial system will soon face a
crisis, thanks to excessive easing by the Federal Reserve, predicts Peter
Schiff, CEO of Euro Pacific Capital.
"We're going to have to have a crisis on a much bigger scale than the one that's going on in Russia right now," he tells Newsmax TV's "America's Forum" show.
"We're not going to get a repeat of 2008, because the Fed is not going to allow that kind of crisis. If they raised interest rates, that's exactly what would happen. We'd have a worse financial crisis than 2008."

To prevent that, the Fed will refrain from raising
interest rates and will instead launch another round of quantitative easing,
Schiff predicts.
"But the consequence of that is going to be a currency crisis, a run on the dollar, a run on the U.S. bond market, which is going to be substantially worse, a much bigger disaster, far more painful to endure than any type of financial crisis that would have resulted from an increase in interest rates," he explains.
"But it's going to be that crisis that will force major change. Hopefully it's going to be major change for the better, but there's always a chance there could be major change for the worse."
So how should investors deal with this crisis?
"There's nothing we can do. We can't prevent it. This disaster is going to happen," Schiff says. "The only thing you can do is try to mitigate the damage to yourself, try to have your own assets invested properly."
The means investors should own "assets around the world, own gold."
As for the plunge of oil prices to 5 ½-year lows and the recent stock market correction, "oil prices and the stock market are both going down for the same reason," he notes.
The Fed created "a phony recovery on a foundation of quantitative easing and zero percent interest rates," Schiff argues. "Those policies are theoretically coming to an end, and the asset bubbles that they supported are running out of air."
That explains the declines in stock and oil prices, Schiff asserts. "Without quantitative easing we're going to have a bear market in stocks, we're going to have real estate prices going down. All these markets are going to be coming down."
As for the economy, monetary policy is the key. "The U.S. economy won't recover until the Federal Reserve gets out of the way, until they allow interest rates to rise and allow the economic carnage that would result from that," Schiff maintains.
"What we need to do is have the recession that the Fed cut short. We need to let interest rates go up, let stocks go down, let real estate go down, let big banks fail. We need to clean house, we need to let speculators lose money, and we need to force the federal government to dramatically reduce its size."

He's been dissing Reaganomics for decades, along with other Democrats and liberals, whose only recourse is to distort the Gipper's phenomenal record.

At the end of Jimmy Carter's term, unemployment was 7.4 percent, and galloping toward double digits; inflation was already in double digits; and interest rates were a staggering 21.5 percent. There was no end in sight.
Indeed, I remember the general malaise that gripped the nation at that time — the attitude of despair, fatalism, and resignation. America's best years, according to Carter's apologists, were behind her, and it wasn't his fault that things were so abysmally bleak.
Reagan, against all naysayers, promised that proper policies could unleash the sleeping economic giant again; that we could return to sustained, robust growth and prosperity. Once elected, despite strong opposition from Democrats in Congress, he fulfilled his promise.
Reagan inherited a steep recession but, unlike President Obama today, did not keep using it as an excuse well into his presidency. Reagan didn't need excuses, because his policies began to produce results very quickly.
Reagan had pushed for a 30 percent across-the-board cut in marginal income tax rates, but Democrats in Congress forced a reduction to 25 percent and delayed its implementation. Once the bill passed and kicked in, the results were dramatic.
Along with Reagan's policy of deregulation, his tax cuts produced an economic boom that continued for almost eight full years — from November 1982 to July 1990 — with not a scintilla of a recession.

Like President John F. Kennedy, Reagan demonstrated that reducing marginal income tax rates could increase revenues. Revenues almost doubled during the Reagan years, and even after adjusting for inflation, they increased by some 28 percent. Reaganomics also shattered the long-established economic textbook axiom that there is a trade-off between unemployment and inflation. Despite nearly 20 million new jobs, there was barely any upward pressure on prices.
Though Democrats preached that under Reagan, the rich got richer and the poor got poorer — in fact the plight of all income groups improved. Not only that but upward mobility, which received its last rites under Carter, made a dramatic comeback, as a Treasury Department study revealed that 86 percent of the people in the lowest 20 percent of income in 1979 graduated into higher categories during the 1980s. More people in every income group moved up than down except — ironically — the top 1 percent of earners.
Moreover, the real Reagan record puts the lie to the liberal mantra that the rich didn't pay their fair share. In the first place, average effective income tax rates were cut more for lower-income groups than for higher-income groups. In 1991, after the Reagan cuts had been in place for almost a decade, the top 1 percent of income earners paid 25 percent of income taxes; the top 5 percent paid 43 percent; and the bottom half paid only 5 percent. How is that for fairness?
Unfortunately, Reagan didn't achieve the spending reductions he'd envisioned, though some misinformation exists here, too. Military spending constituted much of the increase — by design and by necessity after Carter's gutting of our vital defenses. But the rate of domestic spending grew more slowly under Reagan than under his immediate predecessors and would have been reduced far more but for recalcitrant big-spending Democratic congressmen.

A new lawsuit has revealed the extent of former President Clinton's
friendship with a fundraiser who was later jailed for having sex with an
underage prostitute.
Bill Clinton's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, who served time in
2008 for his illegal sexual partners, included up multiple trips to the onetime
billionaire's private island in the Caribbean where underage girls were
allegedly kept as sex slaves.
The National Enquirer has released new details about the two men's
friendship, which seems to have ended abruptly around the time of Epstein's
arrest.
Naming names: A lawsuit between Jeffrey Epstein (right, in 2011) and his
legal team has included multiple mentions about the convicted pedophile's
connection to former President Bill Clinton (left, earlier this month)
Pedophile paradise: The lawsuit included flight records that showed
Clinton made multiple trips to Epstein's private island, Little St James
(pictured), between 2002 and 2005. Women were reportedly kept there as sex
slaves
Tales of orgies and young girls being shipped to the island, called
Little St. James, have been revealed as part of an ongoing lawsuit between
Epstein and his former lawyers Scott Rothstein and Bradley Edwards.
It is unclear what the basis of the suit is, but they go on to call
witness testimony from some of the frequent guests at Epstein's island to talk
about the wild parties that were held there in the early 2000s.
Convicted: Epstein was investigated in 2005 after a woman reported that
he paid her 14-year-old daughter for sex
Flight logs pinpoint Clinton's trips on Epstein's jet between the years
2002 and 2005, while he was working on his philanthropic post-presidential
career and while his wife Hillary was a Senator for their adopted state of New
York.
'I remember asking Jeffrey what's Bill Clinton doing here kind fo thing,
and he laughed it off and said well he owes me a favor,' one unidentified woman
said in the lawsuit, which was filed in Palm Beach Circuit Court.
The woman went on to say how orgies were a regular occurrence and she
recalled two young girls from New York who were always seen around the
five-house compound but their personal backstories were never revealed.
At least one woman on the compound was there unwillingly, as the suit
identifies a woman as Jane Doe 102.
She 'was forced to live as one of Epstein's underage sex slaves for
years and was forced to have sex with... politicians, businessmen, royalty,
academicians, etc,' the lawsuit says according to The Enquirer.
Epstein's sexual exploits have been documented since 2005, when a woman
in Palm Beach contacted police saying that her 14-year-old daughter had been
paid $300 to massage him and then have sex.
The claim prompted a nearly year-long investigation that led to the
eventual charge of soliciting prostitution which came as part of a plea deal.
He spent 13 months of a 18-month sentence in jail and remains a registered sex
offender.

Several of his famous friends cut ties- including Clinton and then-New
York Governor Eliot Spitzer who returned his campaign donations- but not all of

Keeping ties: Clinton was also friends with an unnamed woman who stored
pictures of underage girls for Epstein, and though Clinton cut ties with
Epstein after his arrest, he invited the woman to Chelsea's 2010 wedding
Clinton's connection to Epstein, who worked as a financier and education
philanthropist before more than 40 women came forward with claims about him
being a sexual predator, has been long-established, but The Enquirer also tells
how the former president was also friends with some of Epstein's seedy
acquaintances.
The lawsuit claims that Clinton was friends with an unnamed woman who
'kept images of naked underage children on her computer, helped to recruit
underage children for Epstein... and photographed underage females in sexually
explicit poses'.
While he cut off ties with Epstein, this woman's abuses apparently did
not end their relationship as she was reportedly one of the 400 guests at
Chelsea Clinton's 2010 wedding.+6

Though the lawsuit may be bringing up sexual skeleton's from Clinton's

Clinton family loyalists, as a Wall Street Journal article released today details how
'I'm not in the political camp; I'm in the friends camp. And the friends
camp definitely has concerns about her running,' the former Secretary of

Ex-Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell Gets 2 Years in Prison for
Corruption
Former
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has been sentenced to two years in prison for
taking money and gifts in exchange for promoting a dietary supplement while he
was in office.
McDonnell,
a Republican, was once on the short list to be Mitt Romney's vice presidential
running mate. He was sentenced Tuesday after being convicted of 11 counts of
corruption.
The
former governor and his wife, Maureen, were found guilty in September. She was
convicted of eight counts and will be sentenced in February.
Lawyers
for the former governor asked a judge to order three years of community
service. Prosecutors recommended a sentence of at least 10 years in prison.
The
six-week jury trial exposed details of the former first couple's strained
marriage and shaky finances.

Dept. Can’t Explain Why Cuba Isn’t Fulfilling Promises Made in Obama Deal
State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki
repeatedly refused to answer questions this afternoon about the 53 political
detainees Cuba promised to release as part of a deal with President Obama to
normalize relations with the United States.
When asked about a lack of transparency
in the prisoner exchange process, Psaki said, “Well, we know who’s on there.
And the Cuban government knows who’s on there.”
The Cuban government hasn’t exactly
been a model for transparency the last half century. Included in his deal with
Cuba, Obama announced two weeks ago that the U.S. government had released three
Cuban spies. The lack of progress in freeing the Cuban political prisoners
increases the scrutiny on that White House decision.
After Psaki stated that she had no
updates to provide, a befuddled Matt Lee asked, “Hold on — hold on a second.
Can we — I mean, is it — what’s happening? Are they out? Are they not out? …
Where are they?”
Psaki responded, “I don’t have any more
updates to provide for you, Matt.”

Kerry Lied: National Gun Registration Is Part of the UN Small Arms

Ever since September 2013, the day Secretary of State John Kerry signed the
United Nations Small Arms Treaty, I have been bothered by the complete
disingenuous concern he presented and outright lies he told to those gathered
to witness the signing, and the American people. Here’s the video of the

The first thing I thought of was that this is a former senator who
is signing a three inch document, which I’m sure he has never read. This is the
disingenuous part of what he is doing.
Second, in discussing what the
treaty is not, he declares “This treaty will not diminish anyone’s freedom. In
fact, the treaty recognizes the freedom of both individuals and states to obtain,
possess, and use arms for legitimate purposes. Make no mistake, we would never
think about supporting a treaty that is inconsistent with the rights of
Americans … to be able to exercise their guaranteed rights under our

It is
now clear that the internationally traded US dollar is backed by gold. The
evidence for this is the fact that recently the dollar has changed in value
against a basket currencies in a way that closely tracks how gold performed
against these currencies.
The internationally traded gold-backed dollar and
Chinese yuan are both now under the control of the Dragon (Asian royal)
families, the British Royal family, the Chinese communist government, the Swiss
banking families and their allies.
However,
we are hearing from them that resistance continues from elements of the US
corporate government who are using derivatives to continue to create un-backed
dollars to buy up the stock market. They also managed to put an illusory $100
billion into their account on December 31st to postpone their bankruptcy.
The other thing that is clear is that we still have
the Barack Obama regime in the US, as seen daily on the corporate propaganda
media, refusing to prosecute known war criminals like George Bush Jr and Dick
Cheney.

As far as I can tell, this was a genuine conversation
with an AI and not some deliberate disinformation directed against this writer.
In any case, plenty of evidence of plans to shut down
the US electrical grid, and possibly the entire internet and world financial
system can be found elsewhere. Remember, for example, the Treasury department
has been buying emergency food supplies, blankets etc. for its staff. Then last
week the Feds put out an ad for an “emergency preparedness specialist.”
The other place where very unusual activity is
continuing is in the Middle East. Here we can verify that Pentagon white hats,
Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria and their allies are working together while Israel,
Egypt and Saudi Arabia seem to be fighting them.
According the Israeli Mossad linked Debka file:
“Israel has quietly consented to large-scale Egyptian
military strength entering Sinai: One and a half divisions, including fighter
squadrons and tank battalions, have taken up positions, nullifying the key demilitarization
clause of their 1979 peace treaty. And that is just for starters”
The only possible enemy they could be deploying such a
large force again would the Turkish/Iranian/Pentagon forces.
There is also evidence of fundamental change in the
European situation. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has publicly called for a
security alliance with Russia, in what amounts to a complete repudiation of
Nazionist propaganda trying to portray Russian President Vladimir Putin as an
