Feds Try To Close The Ocean Because Of The Shutdown
Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was “closed” due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.
The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban. Of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business.
This is governing by temper-tantrum. It is on par with the government’s ham-fisted attempts to close the DC WWII Memorial, an open-air public monument that is normally accessible 24 hours a day. By accessible I mean, you walk up to it. When you have finished reflecting, you then walk away from it.

The fact that Congress is allowed to shut down in the first place is perhaps one of the best reasons for why the government should be immediately fired. Getting to take time off of work at full pay seems like a poor incentive and or punishment for politicians to actually do their jobs. No business on the planet would dare to shut down if they failed to reach a decision about something. You think when Apple has a budget problem they can close their offices and punish the consumer? No, they order thai food, and plan for a long night. If we don’t fire the government over this shutdown, at the very least we should make those in Washington do the exact same thing…Except in a room without air conditioning on a minimum wage salary until they can reach an agreement, and without any delicious thai takeout.
2. They make us pay them, even when they refuse to work:
How is it that when our government misspends our money, we are the ones that have to pay for it? They have failed, miserably, to do something that literally every person in the country has to do every day, set a budget, and yet somehow they come out of this quagmire of incompetence fully compensated. This, while teachers and soldiers who actually do their jobs are left to take out loans to feed their families. This madness reminds me of the great comedian Bill Hick’s reaction to being told by Washington to tighten his belt to help pay back the deficit… I could see tightening my belt, so long as it’s around a politician’s neck. All this, and we’re still going to have to pay the taxes for all the days they throw their bureaucratic temper tantrum.
3. Their “cuts” aren’t to save money, but to punish the people they represent:
They claim they’ve cut the budget to the bone, which is true in the sense that they’ve cut only the bone and refused to cut any of the fat. The cuts made by our government seem to have been made out of nothing but spite for the American people. One of the most talked about budget cuts is the closure of monuments in Washington DC. This has been widely protested by veterans across the country, who have stormed the monuments in protest. In response, the government has actually spent thousands to hire over a half dozen armed guards to keep veterans from visiting the monuments. First, and perhaps most obviously, how does closing a monument save the government money? The monuments are all outside, and having people look at them costs the state absolutely nothing. “Closing” big decorative rocks to save money is something only a bureaucrat could comprehend. Second, if the government was truly concerned about saving money, they wouldn’t hire armed men to keep people from looking at them. These cuts are clearly designed to punish the public.
In addition to the national monuments, the shut down has closed national parks, and popular government websites such as NASA.gov. These closures are just as absurd as the closures to the monuments.
Again, I fail to see how keeping people from taking a walk in the woods is costing the government money. This, and the government still has to pay domain fees to put up the message that they can’t afford to keep their popular websites running.
Congress didn’t make these cuts to save Americans money, Congress made these cuts to punish Americans for Congresses’ incompetence.

I Too Have Become Disillusioned By Matt Patterson
Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?
Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League, despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer;" a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, less often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.
He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator. And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor;" a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?
Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal: To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberal Dom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were 'a bit' extreme, he was given a pass. Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass - held to a lower standard - because of the color of his skin.
Podhoretz continues: And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) "non-threatening," all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?
Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon - affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.
Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don't care if these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self-esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes,racist. Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin - that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism, then nothing is.
And that is what America did to Obama. True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary.
What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks? In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people – conservatives included - ought now to be deeply embarrassed.
The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that's when he has hisTeleprompters in front of him; when the prompter is absent he can barely think or speak at all. Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth -
it's all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years. (An example is his 2012 campaign speeches which are almost word for word his 2008 speeches)
And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. Remember, he wanted the job, campaigned for the task. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. (The other day he actually came out and said no one could have done anything to get our economy and country back on track). But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?
In short: our president is a small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such an impostor in the Oval Office.

Senator Rubio: First, let me also start by thanking the men and women of the Capitol Police Department and the District of Columbia and the Secret Service. It reminds us that they’re the thin blue line that stands between us and danger. I think it’s a moment to extend our thanks to all law enforcement and first responders around the country who on a daily basis are that thin blue line as well. So we are also grateful for what do you for us and how you keep us safe.
I wanted to talk, of course, about this week. It's been an interesting week, to say the least, beyond the events of yesterday. You turn on the cable news, and it features these countdown clocks leading up to the government slowdown. And now in the aftermath of it, as well, you see these countdowns about how many days we've been into this thing. Look there’s no doubt this impasse that we’re at is a problem for the country. This is not the best way to run the most important government in the most important country in the world. The people around here — who all they do is focus on politics, who for them every day is Election Day — what they're focused on is who's winning, who's going to get the blame, who's this going to help in the next election. I suppose that has a place in politics and in the governing process. Let me answer to you who's going to get the blame. We all are. Every single one of us in the House, the Senate. The entire federal government is going to get the blame. Let me tell you why. Because there are people who woke up this morning, they didn't get enough sleep last night. Maybe they were up late helping their kids with their homework. They guzzled a bunch of coffee and forced themselves to work. They didn’t want to go to work. They were tired. But they had to. And they're going to go to work today. They’re going to get home and go through all that again. And they’re just wondering, why can't you guys do that? Why can't do you your job? And I think that's a very valid frustration that people have with this process and with us here today.
I'm not happy about some of the things we've seen this week or over the last couple weeks. I think it's very unfortunate some of the rhetoric that's been used around here, both in this chamber and in the public domain. But with each day that goes by, what I'm more and more worried about may not be what everybody else is so worried about, or at least what too many people around here aren’t worried about. Look, I think it's wrong that those of us who stand on principle — who believe, for example that ObamaCare is going to badly damage our economy — I think it's wrong that we have a Congressman from my home state that compares us to the Taliban. We have a spokesperson for the White House that says we're like people with bombs strapped to our chests. I think that's wrong. I think it's wrong too, by the way, that the President has used the megaphone to the presidency, not to bring Americans together, but he's used the megaphone to deepen these divisions. You know, Mr. President, you're not the chairman of the Democratic Party. You are the President of the United States. Act like the President of the United States. Rise above that stuff. Your job is to bring this nation together. I know people are going to say things about you, you don't like. It comes with the territory. You've got to rise above that and I hope that he will.
But those are not the things that concern me the most. What I'm most worried about is that this country faces a very serious crisis and we are running out of time to fix it. Now, there's no doubt this government slowdown is not a good thing, but it's not the crisis I'm referring to. This issue about the debt limit, hitting the debt limit, that's a problem. But that's not the most serious crisis we face either. The single, most important crisis we face in this country is that for millions of Americans, the promise of the American Dream is literally slipping away through their fingers. And with all the focus around here on whatever the crisis of the day may be, I fear that we are simply not spending enough time focused on that reality.
It reminds me of this story that I know. A few years ago, a friend of mine in Florida was on a twin-engine airplane. They were flying from one part of the state to another. At some point during that flight, a fire broke out in the cockpit. Now, that fire is a problem. But the bigger problem was that both of the pilots started to put out the fire and no one was flying the plane. And within a few seconds the plane began to plunge and it lost hundreds of feet in altitude. Now, luckily they figured it out quickly and were able to correct themselves. But they were so focused on the fire in the cockpit that they weren't flying the plane. And luckily they realized in time that if they didn't start flying that plane, that fire was going to be pretty insignificant a few seconds from then. So this government slowdown, it is a problem, yes. We have this upcoming debt limit thing, and that's a problem, yes. But the fire in our cockpit and the one we need to address is the erosion of the American Dream. Now, you think that the slowdown in government is problematic. Well, that's a vote away from being solved. All you have to do is take a vote in either chamber and we can solve that problem.
Let me tell when you the slowdown in government is going to be a big problem: When it slows down because this government no longer has enough money to pay its bills. And if we keep doing what we’re doing now, that’s going to happen. You think this debt ceiling situation is a problem? Well that’s one vote away from being solved. Let me tell you when it is going to be a real problem: When no one wants to buy our debt anymore because they don't think we can pay them back. You think all this division and dysfunction in Washington is bad for our economy? Yeah, but you know what's worse? A tax code that kills jobs. Regulations that on a daily basis are killing jobs. A national debt that's killing jobs. By the way, one of the greatest destroyers of jobs in America today is ObamaCare. That's why we're so passionate about it. The American Dream that people throw around so loosely as a term — the American Dream is basically the notion that no matter where you start out in life, no matter how many obstacles you have to overcome, you have the God-given right to through hard work and perseverance achieve a better life for yourself and leave your children better off than yourself. But it’s being eroded on a daily basis. And not nearly enough attention is being paid to that. I don't see any countdown clocks on cable television about the American Dream. The most dangerous thing happening in Washington today is that everyone is so busy fighting about the problems before us today that there doesn't seem to be enough focus on the crisis we're headed to here pretty soon: That we are on the verge of losing the American Dream. I say that because to one extent or another we are all guilty of misplacing that focus.
So my speech here today is as much as anything a reminder to me of why I wanted to serve here to begin with. The reason I wanted to serve here is because I know — I don't think — I know that America is special. And I know this partially because I was raised by and around people that know what life is like in places other than America. In places other than America, you can only go as far as your parents went. You are trapped. Whatever your family did, that's the only thing you are allowed to do by those societies. But we’ve been different, and I've seen it with my own eyes. Both in my neighborhood and in my family, I have seen people who came here with little education and no connections, through hard work and perseverance achieve a better life, achieve a meaningful life and leave their kids off better than themselves. And I also see how every single day there are millions of people out there now that are trying to achieve the same thing and they're finding it harder and harder to do that. And we're on the verge of losing that. And if we lose that, every day that that's eroded, so, too, is the exceptionalism of this country.
People love to use that term, "an exceptional nation." I believe it’s exceptional. But it is exceptional primarily because of the American Dream. Many countries in the world have powerful militaries. Every country in the world has rich people and big companies. What makes us different is that here if you are willing to work hard, if you have a really good idea, you can be rewarded for it with a better life. And that’s eroding. And if we lose that, we lose what makes us special and different, and no one seems to be fighting enough about that. All these other issues, the only reason why they matter is because they relate to the American Dream. The reason why the debt really matters is because it undermines the American Dream. The reason why our tax code that's broken matters is because it undermines the American Dream. The reason why I'm so passionate about ObamaCare is because it is undermining, for millions of people, the ability to achieve the American Dream.
The reason I ran for office is because as a country, we're headed in the wrong direction because we are losing the American Dream. We still have time to fix this. But we don't have all century. We don't even have all decade. We have got to begin to take these issues seriously or we will be known as the first generation of Americans who lost the American Dream and left their children worse off than ourselves. We still have time to refocus ourselves on this. With all this noise about politics and who gets the blame and who is responsible for what, I hope that we can use these challenges before us as a catalyst to begin to focus on these issues for why they matter: They matter because they're hurting people. And it's hurting people who are trying to achieve a better life.
If we do that, if we focus on that and if we solve the problems before us with an eye towards that, then I think we have the real opportunity to do what every generation of Americans before us has done: To leave our children better off than ourselves, and to leave them what our parents left for us — the single-greatest nation in the history of the world.

We are fighting a “no win” battle over both ObamaCare and the government slimdown or shutdown as other describe it. Especially because the media protects him at all costs. The message the media puts out is that “Obama is for the little guy. The GOP is evil and greedy.” Unfortunately we are playing right into Obama’s hands with both a defunding of ObamaCare and a federal government shutdown.
How can Obama look into the camera and say that congress and the president should have the right to different health care than American citizens?
Great generals change tactics constantly to win battles and wars. They recognize it is all a chess game and as circumstances change and evolve, tactics must change and evolve. Now it’s time for the Republican congress to change tactics.How can the GOP message be changed to win the battle instantly? By changing our demand. Here’s a way to turn this into a “win-win” for the GOP. Republicans will in fact end the government shutdown, pass the budget, and fund ObamaCare if this one single simple demand is met: REMOVE ALL EXEMPTIONS, EXCEPTIONS, AND WAIVERS TO OBAMACARE.It’s that simple. The message is: If ObamaCare is so good for the people, then let everyone have it. Right now. This instant. The poor, the rich, the big unions, the big corporations, the politically connected, the lawyers, the lobbyists, and of course, Congress, too. Everyone means everyone.“Everyone” must specifically include Senators, Congressmen, their staffs, Obama himself, Michelle, Sasha and Malia. It’s everyone in the rowboat, or no one. That's the only GOP demand. Forget defunding -- it's not going to happen. Fund it, but only if Obama agrees to end all exemptions, exceptions, and waivers today.How’s that for a simple, clear and concise, easy to understand message? A message that puts the GOP clearly on the side of equality and fairness for all. This is a message a majority of Americans will support. This is a message that puts Obama on the defensive and paints him into a dangerous "no win" corner.That’s how you win the war with Obama and kill ObamaCare. That’s how you win the public relations battle. That’s how you leave the media speechless. That’s how you outmaneuver Obama.Think of Obama's only two options at that point. He can either tell the American people that government will stay shut "Because I refuse to force corporations, unions, and Congress to live by the same rules as the rest of you"....or he can immediately re-open the government and fund ObamaCare, but cause a war inside the Democratic Party by abandoning his big corporate donors and unions. Either way, he loses. If this was wrestling or MMA fighting, the GOP just flipped Obama on his back. How can he say ”no” to the GOP demand? Is Obama only for the rich, big corporations, and politically connected? What is he protecting the rich and privileged from? If ObamaCare is so great, why did he delay it for big corporations? What about the rest of us? Are we human guinea pigs?More importantly, how can Obama look into the camera and say that Congress and the president should have the right to different health care than the citizens? Talk about an unwinnable position. Make the president explain why he will keep the government closed so that congress can have a different health care plan than the rest of us peasants.Obama has broken the law and violated the Constitution with these special exemptions and waivers. Hold his feet to the fire. The GOP isn’t against poor people getting health care. We certainly hate ObamaCare. We know it's a disaster for health care, jobs, and the economy. But if it's the law of the land (for now), then we demand equality for everyone. If Obama wants the law, let’s ALL have the law. Everyone. Michelle, Sasha and Malia can wait in the same long lines as the rest of us. So can Congress and their staffs. So can big corporations like GE, WalMart and Exxon. So can every union member. So can every government employee. If the rest of us can’t have “Cadillac health insurance plans” without paying big fines or taxes, then unions and government employees can’t either.It’s one for all, and all for one. Let’s see Obama oppose that argument. Let’s see him defend waivers and exemptions for some, while the rest of us get screwed. Let’s see Obama defend keeping the government closed in order to retain the one-year waiver for big business, while forcing small business and the middle class to suffer immediately. Obama is between a rock and a hard place. He must agree that everyone gets it today, ready or not, with no exceptions. Or no one gets it.Suddenly the GOP has turned the tables. We have exposed Obama as the fraud he is. With this one change in tactics, the GOP represents "equality and fairness for all." Let Obama defend inequality, unfairness, and special favors for the rich and connected. Checkmate.ObamaCare is a disaster. The exchanges aren’t ready. Mass confusion reigns.The American people have no idea how bad this is going to get. But it's clear the unions, big corporations, and Congress understand. That’s why they desperately want out. From this day forward we let no one out. We are all in this together.Make Obama own it. Make him tie his friends and donors into it right now -- with no wiggle room. Then watch the fun begin. Watch the unions and big corporations demand the repeal of ObamaCare. Watch mass protests in the streets by union members. La gente de por aquí - que lo único que hacen es centrarse en la política , que para ellos cada día es día de las elecciones - lo que están enfocados en es quién gana , quién va a tener la culpa , que es esto va a ayudar en las próximas elecciones .Supongo que tiene un lugar en la política y en el proceso de gobierno . Van a llegar a casa y pasar por todo eso otra vez. Y sólo están preguntando, ¿por qué no pueden ustedes hacer eso ? ¿Por qué no pueden hacer su trabajo? Y creo que eso es una frustración muy válida que la gente tiene con este proceso y hoy aquí con nosotros .
No estoy contento con algunas de las cosas que hemos visto esta semana o durante las últimas dos semanas . Creo que es muy desafortunado parte de la retórica que se ha utilizado aquí , tanto en esta Cámara como en el dominio público. Pero con cada día que pasa, lo que estoy cada vez más preocupado por no ser lo que todo el mundo está tan preocupado , o al menos lo que mucha gente de por aquí no nos preocupa . Mira, yo creo que está mal que aquellos de nosotros que están de pie en el principio - que creen , por ejemplo, que ObamaCare va a dañar gravemente nuestra economía - Creo que está mal que tenemos un congresista de mi estado natal que nos compara con los talibanes. Tenemos un portavoz de la Casa Blanca, que dice que somos como personas con bombas atadas a nuestros pechos . Creo que eso está mal . Su trabajo consiste en llevar esta nación. Sé que la gente va a decir cosas de ti , que no te gusta . Viene con el territorio . Hay que elevarse por encima de eso y espero que lo haga.
Pero esas no son las cosas que me preocupan más. Lo que más me preocupa es que este país se enfrenta a una crisis muy seria y nos estamos quedando sin tiempo para arreglarlo . Ahora, no hay duda de esta desaceleración del gobierno no es una buena cosa, pero no es la crisis que me refiero . Esta cuestión sobre el límite de deuda , alcanzando el límite de la deuda , eso es un problema. Pero esa no es la crisis más grave que enfrentamos tampoco. La única crisis , más importante que enfrentamos en este país es que para millones de estadounidenses , la promesa del sueño americano es, literalmente, escapando de las manos . Y con todo el foco aquí en cualquiera que sea la crisis del día puede ser , me temo que estamos simplemente no pasar suficiente tiempo se centró en esa realidad.
Me recuerda a la historia , que yo sepa . Hace unos años , un amigo mío en la Florida estaba en un avión bimotor . Volaban de una parte del estado a otro. En algún momento durante el vuelo , se produjo un incendio en la cabina. Ahora , que el fuego es un problema . Pero el problema más grande era que los dos pilotos comenzaron a apagar el fuego y nadie estaba volando el avión. Y a los pocos segundos, el avión empezó a hundirse y perder cientos de metros de altitud. Ahora, por suerte lo descubrieron rápidamente y pudieron corregirse . Pero estaban tan concentrados en el fuego en la cabina que no estaban volando el avión. Y por suerte se dieron cuenta a tiempo de que si no comienzan a volar ese avión , que el fuego iba a ser bastante insignificante unos segundos a partir de entonces . Así que esta desaceleración del gobierno, es un problema , sí.Tenemos esta próxima cosa límite de la deuda , y eso es un problema , sí. Pero el fuego en nuestra cabina y el que tenemos que abordar es la erosión del sueño americano . Ahora, cree que la desaceleración en el gobierno es problemática. Bueno, eso es un voto lejos de ser resuelto. Todo lo que tienes que hacer es tomar un voto en cualquiera de las cámaras y podemos resolver ese problema.
Déjame decirte cuando la desaceleración en el gobierno va a ser un gran problema: Cuando se retrasa porque este gobierno ya no tiene suficiente dinero para pagar sus cuentas . Y si seguimos haciendo lo que estamos haciendo ahora , eso va a suceder. ¿Crees que esta situación límite de la deuda es un problema? Bueno, eso es un voto lejos de ser resuelto.Déjame que te diga cuándo va a ser un verdadero problema : Cuando nadie quiere comprar nuestra deuda más porque ellos no piensan que podemos pagarlos . ¿Crees que todo esto la división y la disfunción en Washington es malo para nuestra economía? Sí, pero ya sabes lo que es peor ? Un código de impuestos que mata empleos. Reglamento que a diario están matando empleos. Una deuda nacional que está matando a puestos de trabajo. Por cierto , uno de los mayores destructores de empleos en Estados Unidos hoy en día es ObamaCare . Es por eso que estamos tan apasionados sobre ello . El sueño americano de que la gente tira todo lo que en términos generales como un término - el sueño americano es, básicamente, la idea de que no importa donde usted comienza a cabo en la vida , no importa cuántos obstáculos que hay que superar , usted tiene el derecho dado por Dios a través de disco trabajo y perseverancia lograr una vida mejor para sí mismo y dejar a sus hijos mejor que usted mismo. Pero se está deteriorando día a día . Y no es suficiente la atención se presta a eso. No veo ningún relojes de cuenta regresiva en la televisión por cable sobre el sueño americano . Lo más peligroso que sucede en Washington hoy es que todo el mundo está luchando tan ocupado de los problemas que se nos presentan hoy en día que no parece ser suficiente atención a la crisis que nos dirigimos hasta aquí muy pronto : que estamos a punto de perder el sueño americano . Lo digo porque de una manera u otra todos somos culpables de colocar mal enfocados .
Así que mi discurso de hoy es más que nada un recordatorio para mí de por qué quería servir para empezar. La razón por la que quería servir aquí es porque sé - No creo - Sé que Estados Unidos es especial. Y sé que esto en parte porque fui criado por los alrededores de las personas que saben lo que es la vida en lugares que no sean los Estados Unidos. En lugares que no sean los Estados Unidos, sólo se puede llegar tan lejos como sus padres se fueron . Usted está atrapado . Sea cual sea su familia hizo , eso es lo único que se le permite hacer a esas sociedades. Pero hemos estado diferente, y lo he visto con mis propios ojos . Tanto en mi barrio y en mi familia , he visto gente que vino aquí con poca educación y sin conexiones , a través del trabajo duro y la perseverancia lograr una vida mejor, lograr una vida significativa y dejar a sus hijos en mejor situación que ellos. Y veo también cómo cada día hay millones de personas ahí fuera ahora que estamos tratando de lograr lo mismo y están encontrando cada vez más difícil hacer eso. Y estamos a punto de perder eso. Y si perdemos eso, todos los días que ha erosionado , por lo que , también, es la excepcionalidad de este país.
La gente le encanta usar ese término , " una nación excepcional . " Yo creo que es excepcional.Pero es excepcional, sobre todo debido a el sueño americano . Muchos países en el mundo cuentan con ejércitos poderosos . Todos los países del mundo tienen los ricos y las grandes empresas . Lo que nos hace diferentes es que aquí, si usted está dispuesto a trabajar duro , si usted tiene una buena idea , puede ser recompensado por ello con una vida mejor. Y eso está erosionando . Y si perdemos eso, perdemos lo que nos hace especial y diferente , y nadie parece estar luchando lo suficiente sobre eso. Todas estas otras cuestiones , la única razón por qué son importantes es porque se relacionan con el sueño americano . La razón por la deuda que realmente importa es porque socava el sueño americano . La razón por la que nuestro código tributario que es materia rotos es porque socava el sueño americano . La razón por la que soy un apasionado de ObamaCare es porque está minando , para millones de personas , la capacidad de alcanzar el sueño americano .
La razón por la que postuló para un cargo se debe a que , como país , que vamos en la dirección equivocada porque estamos perdiendo el sueño americano . Aún estamos a tiempo de solucionar este problema . Pero nosotros no tenemos todo el siglo . Ni siquiera tenemos todo década. Tenemos que empezar a tomar en serio estas cuestiones o seremos conocidos como la primera generación de estadounidenses que perdieron el sueño americano y dejó a sus hijos en peores condiciones que nosotros. Aún estamos a tiempo de reorientar nosotros en esto. Con todo este ruido acerca de la política y quién tiene la culpa y quién es responsable de qué, espero que podamos usar estos desafíos ante nosotros como un catalizador para comenzar a centrarse en estas cuestiones de por qué son importantes : Importan porque están perjudicandopersonas. Y es lastimar a la gente que están tratando de lograr una vida mejor.
Si lo hacemos , si nos centramos en eso y si resolvemos los problemas que tenemos ante nosotros , con la mirada puesta en eso, entonces creo que tenemos la oportunidad real de hacer lo que cada generación de estadounidenses que se nos ha hecho : dejar a nuestros hijos mejorque nosotros mismos, y para dejarlos lo que nuestros padres nos dejaron - la única gran nación en la historia del mundo.
