AMENPER: Obama Endorses Biden -- Is Hillary's
Indictment Near?
By Nate Jackson ·
The best evidence that felony charges may
be filed against Hillary Clinton, effectively ending her bid for the 2016
presidential nomination, came in the form of Barack Obama’s endorsement of Joe
Biden, by way of his spokesman Josh Earnest.
According to Earnest, “The president has indicated that his view that
the decision that he made…to add Joe Biden to the ticket as his running mate
was the smartest decision that he has ever made in politics. And I think that
should give you some sense into the president’s view into Vice President’s
aptitude for the top job.” Earnest added, “The vice president is somebody who
has already run for president twice. So I think you could probably make the
case that there is no one in American politics today who has a better
understanding of exactly what is required to mount a successful national
presidential campaign.”
While Earnest also expressed Obama’s “appreciation, respect and
admiration” for Hillary Clinton, it’s hard to overestimate the importance of
his statements on Biden in light of Hillary’s mounting trouble.
So what does Obama know that would prompt
such a strong endorsement of Biden? Does Obama believe Hillary is in so much
trouble that she may be indicted? Perhaps he believes choosing her to head the
State Department was the worst decision he ever made.
It is increasingly likely that Clinton, having deleted more than
30,000 emails from the illegal private communications server she maintained
while secretary of state, may face criminal charges. Those charges range from
felony possession of classified documents on an unclassified and unauthorized
server, to felony obstruction of justice — she erased all those emails after
the server had been subpoenaed by the House Committee on Benghazi.
For the record, the statute pertaining to evidence tampering, 18
U.S.C. § 1519, includes penalties of up to 20 years in prison. That statute is
part of the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act, for which then-Senator Hillary Clinton
voted “yes.”
It specifies felony charges for anyone who “knowingly alters,
destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry” in
any official account or record “with the intent to impede, obstruct, or
influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter.” Notably,
it further specifies, “or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or
case,” which is precisely why Clinton maintained that private server.
She has already admitted to the willful destruction of those
communications.
And the latest news is that the State Department did not fulfill its
legal obligation to inform the Department of Homeland Security of Hillary’s
server arrangement. In other words, it just keeps getting worse.
All of which, as we have previously noted, opens the door for Joe
Biden to save the day. On top of the White House endorsement, Biden has been
more strongly signaling his intent to enter the race.
Over the weekend, he had a powwow with Elizabeth “Honest Injun”
Warren. Smoking the peace pipe with the Fake Cherokee of Harvard means Biden
may be looking to team up with her for a run. Warren is a darling of
progressives, but declined to answer the call to run for president herself.
Together, the duo could perhaps overcome the Clinton machine.
Which brings us back to the shot in the arm Obama’s effective
endorsement really is. If Obama decides to rally behind Biden — and make no
mistake, that would be about preserving Obama’s legacy as much as any affinity
for his right-hand man — it could prove decisive. Obama beat Hillary once
already, and this time her fate isn’t in her own hands but rather those of the
FBI.
Political memories are incredibly short. So if somehow Hillary ends up
dropping out of the race after an indictment, two months from now, if
Biden stepped in with Warren at his side, all of it would be a distant memory
for anyone looking to vote Democrat.
Charles Krauthammer concludes, “That was a pretty broad hint from Josh
Earnest that the president is tilting towards Biden.” Furthermore, he said,
“The perfect play for Biden is not Elizabeth Warren’s endorsement but that he
announces he will have her on the ticket and he will be a one-term president.”
In
July, Obama asserted, “I actually think I’m a pretty good president. I think if
I ran [for a third term] I could win. But I can’t.” However, a Biden/Warren
ticket is a third Obama term will look like Obama is running for a third term.

AMENPER: Obama Respalda Biden…
- ¿Esta La Acusación contra
Hillary Cerca?

Donald Trump Kicks to Jorge Ramos Out of Event…
ERIK PENDZICH/REX SHUTTERSTOCK
AUGUST 25, 2015 | 04:03PM PT

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos was thrown out of a Donald Trump event on Tuesday when he tried to ask the GOP presidential candidate a
question.
Ramos, who accused Trump on CNN last night of “spreading hate” with his
controversial remarks on immigration, was immediately removed by security from
the early evening press conference in Dubuque, Iowa.
“Excuse me,
sit down. You weren’t called,” Trump said. “Sit down. Sit down. Sit down!”
“No you don’t” “Go back to Univision” Trump said when
Ramos protested that he had “the right to ask a question.”
Watch the video:
“I don’t believe I ever met him, except he started screaming and I
didn’t escort him out, you’ll have to talk to security,” Trump later said when
another reporter asked about Ramos’ removal. “Certainly he wasn’t chosen. I
chose you and you’re asking me questions. He just stands up and starts
screaming so, you know, maybe he’s at fault also.”
“You can’t just stand up and scream,” he told another journalist. “He’s
obviously a very emotional person. So I have no problem with it.”
Ramos eventfully returned to the room and confronted Trump directly
about his immigration policy and his use of the term “anchor babies.” “How is
he going to deport 11 million people? By bus? By plane?” Ramos asked on CNN
yesterday. “Is he going to bring the army to do that? Can you imagine the human
rights violations that would create?”
“I have a bigger heart than you do,” Trump told Ramos, referring to his
plan of curbing illegal immigration. He then said that Ramos used the term
“illegal immigrants.” When the journalist denied using the words, Trump said,
“Well you should use it. That’s what
they are, ‘illegal immigrants.'”
The press conference followed a rally that draw almost 3,000 people.
“We’d love for Mr. Trump to sit down for an in-depth interview with
Jorge to talk about the specifics of his proposals,” Isaac Lee, Univision’s
president of news, said in a statement about the incident.
Trump sued Univision in July after the network dropped its coverage of
Miss USA and Miss Universe, two pageants owned by the real estate mogul. The
Trump Organization said the Univision decision was a “politically motivated
attempt” to suppress his freedom of speech.
Univision cited comments that Trump made about Mexican immigrants in his
campaign announcement speech in June. When his lawsuit was filed, a Univision
spokeswoman said that their “decision to end our business relationship with Mr.
Trump was influenced solely by our responsibility to speak up for the community
we serve.”
This is Trump’s
second major fight with a journalist today. He attacked Megyn Kelly in a tweet
after Fox News Channel chief Roger Ailes urged him to apologize for criticizing the “Kelly File” anchor.

House
Just Passed “Donald Trump Act” – Sends Big Message to Obama!
Love him or hate him, Donald Trump is shining a massive spotlight on
President Barack Obama’s amnesty agenda.
Trump knows that the border is so unprotected that dangerous criminals
and terrorists can cross into America with ease.
That’s why the U.S. House of Representatives just issued a major defeat
to Obama! Known as the “Donald Trump Act,” House Resolution 3099 takes direct
aim at cities which don’t enforce federal laws about sanctuary cities.
The House passed it by an overwhelming 241-197 vote. This is a big deal!
Sanctuary cities have
come under heavy scrutiny in the wake of Kathryn Steinle’s death on July 1 in San
Francisco. Authorities charged Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez with her killing.
Lopez-Sanchez, who is in the U.S. illegally, has a history of felony
convictions and has been deported five times.
Critics of the
sanctuary laws say such policies encourage people to immigrate to the U.S.
illegally at the expense of citizens.
“A refuge for whom? A
sanctuary for whom?” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said. “A sanctuary for Kate
Steinle? Or a refuge for a convicted felon with a 25-year-long criminal
history?”
Democrats accused
House Republicans of bringing up the bill in part because of real estate mogul
and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s focus on illegal
immigration and sanctuary cities; they dubbed the bill the “Donald Trump Act.”
“Just a few weeks into his campaign and Donald Trump has a bill on the
floor of the House. That is better than some of the senators he’s running
against.” Rep. Luis Gutiérrez
(D-Ill.) said mockingly.
AMENPER:
For All Its Heft, China’s Economy Is
a Black Box

China’s
economy is difficult to assess amid murky politics, unreliable data and opaque decision
making
By

For
sheer clout, China’s economy outweighs every country in the world save the U.S.
But on transparency, it remains distinctly an emerging market, with murky
politics, unreliable data and opaque decision making.
This
veil dims the understanding of China’s economy and is an important reason its
recent slowdown has produced so much turmoil.
Economists
widely doubt that China grew at a robust 7% pace in the second quarter, as the
country’s official statistics say. Citing other data, such as power generation
and passenger travel, some think the rate might be as little as half that.
Similarly,
when the People’s Bank of China devalued its currency two weeks ago, a step
that sparked much of the recent market upheaval, officials couched the move as
part of a long-term effort to align the yuan’s value more closely with market
forces. Some outside analysts,
noting that the PBOC isn’t independent, saw a more political motive: to boost
exports and thus bolster the Communist Party’s credibility and hold on power.
In
many ways, China is more transparent than it was a decade ago, and also no
worse than some other countries whose troubles have roiled world markets, such
as Mexico or Russia.
The
difference is size. Mexico accounted for 2% of the world’s gross domestic
product, in dollar terms, when a peso devaluation in 1994 touched off the
“tequila crisis.” The five countries at the center of the 1997 Asian crisis
represented 4%. Russia made up a mere 1% of world GDP in 1998 when it
defaulted.
China
represents 15% of world economic output. It is a major export market for
industrialized countries such as Japan and Germany as well as for commodity
exporters like Brazil and Australia. Its economy contributes a sizable chunk of
the profit growth of many Western multinationals.
Japan
accounted for a comparable share of world GDP when its stock and property
bubbles imploded in the early 1990s. But Japan was a member of the Group of
Seven advanced economies, with democratically accountable and stable
institutions. China is far harder to read than any member of the G-7.
“With
my G-7 and many G-20 counterparts there were frank, honest conversations, you
were on the phone pretty frequently, often weekly,” recalls one former Treasury
official who still deals extensively with China for the financial industry.
“With China, you don’t know who to call. It’s hard to know where decision
making occurs or who’s calling the shots.”
In
many ways, China has become less opaque in recent decades, in part to meet the
demands of other countries and of institutions such as the World Trade
Organization and International Monetary Fund. Many of China’s rules and
regulations are published online. The foreign press has a significant presence
and was allowed to attend a news conference by the PBOC after the yuan
announcement.
China
expert Nick Lardy at the Peterson Institute for International Economics says
suspicions about China’s statistics are overblown. China’s National Bureau of
Statistics has made big efforts to improve the data since 2008, he says,
including by running two immense censuses involving 10 million survey takers.
The agency has defended the reliability of its data.
“China
will maintain a mid to high speed of growth” this year, a spokesman from the
Chinese embassy in Washington said, adding that China maintains “an open and
transparent policy and legal environment.”
China
also relies less than it used to on local government statistics when
calculating GDP and more on its own surveys. Local officials were seen as under
more pressure to show positive results. Adding up China’s provincial GDP often
yields a much higher figure than what the National Bureau of Statistics
reports. Nonetheless, no major advanced country’s statistics are viewed as
skeptically as China’s. In 2007 Li Keqiang, now China’s premier, told the U.S.
ambassador, according to a memo released by WikiLeaks, that GDP is “man-made”
and therefore unreliable.
Mr.
Li, who was then Communist Party chief of Liaoning province, said he looked at
data on electricity, rail cargo and loans to get a better gauge on economic
activity. Several analysts have since come up with indexes based on Mr. Li’s
favorite stats.
In
London, Capital Economics looks at freight activity, electricity, property
development, passenger travel and sea shipments, and concludes China’s economy
expanded much more slowly in the second quarter than China reported. Lombard
Street Research, another London research outfit, uses another approach, including
a different measure of inflation, and comes up with just a 3.7% growth rate.
Chinese
statistics are “spookily stable from quarter to quarter,” says Capital
Economics analyst Mark Williams. For instance, China’s unemployment rate
registers 4.1% nearly every quarter.
Analysts
have tried to work around the flaws and gaps. Real-estate analysts will go to
individual housing projects and count gas meters to get an idea of how many
apartments are occupied. Steel traders will swap stories with their competitors
about the amount of steel backing up in warehouses.
But
the gaps become more problematic at times like this when they can mask
important aspects of the economy. For example, China publishes its
foreign-currency reserves but not whether some have been lent out and thus
aren’t readily available, notes Ted Truman, a former Treasury official now at
the Peterson Institute, though China has pledged to start doing so by year-end.
Nor does China confidentially disclose to the IMF the composition of its reserves,
as many countries do.
Central
banks in most countries have become more independent and transparent,
publishing detailed meeting minutes, forecasts and numerical goals. The PBOC
has opened up a bit, but its most important decisions must be approved by the
top body of either the government or the Communist Party. If one of these
“overrules the central bank, you’ll never get the minutes on that,” notes one
Wall Street executive.
China’s
leaders are heir to a tradition of secrecy. In 1971, when Mao Zedong’s anointed
successor died, the public wasn’t told for nearly two months. In the current
corruption crackdown, it can still be weeks or months after senior or retired
leaders disappear before their detention is announced.
For
years, China’s opacity delivered a Wizard-of-Oz effect. “Chinese leaders were
perceived as omnipotent and great managers who had a very precise, top-down
approach,” said Diana Choyleva, chief economist at Lombard Street Research.
Beijing economic officials had many more levers than their Western
counterparts, such as ordering state-owned banks to lend to targeted
industries. The absence of democracy was seen as enhancing their freedom to
act, as in 2008 and 2009 when China ordered up a massive stimulus plan.
That
opacity lately seems to have backfired. Officials’ interventions on the stock
market have appeared ineffective, and on the exchange rate contradictory. That
preoccupation with internal stability is a factor the rest of the world will
have to weigh in watching China’s actions. In 1998, the Federal Reserve cut
interest rates out of concern for the rest of the world, then roiled by the
Asian and Russian financial crises. China’s decision to devalue, which props up
its own exports while damping growth and inflation in the rest of the world,
suggests that for now, the rest of the world comes second.
Opinion
on China’s policy-making prowess may have swung too far from omnipotent to
impotent. China still retains leverage over the economy through its ownership
of the banks and limits on cross-border capital flows.
Attempting
to stimulate growth through higher lending and investment risks aggravating the
dangerous debt buildup that followed the first stimulus. Even so, an economic
slowdown could weaken support for President Xi Jinping in China’s rising middle
class and embolden critics reeling from his anticorruption drive, says Cheng Li
of the Brookings Institution.

financiera.
a industrias específicas.

Should Clinton Suspend Her
Campaign? Americans Say THIS
·

Likely voters are split on whether Hillary Clinton
should suspend her campaign in light of the legal questions surrounding her use
of a private email server as Secretary of State, a new Rasmussen survey found.
Forty-six percent of those polled Sunday and Monday believe Clinton should suspend her campaign for the Democratic nomination for president, until “all of the legal questions” about her server are answered.
That includes nearly one in four likely Democrat voters (24 percent), an overwhelming percentage of likely Republican voters (73 percent) and 46 percent of undecided likely voters.
The FBI is investigating the matter and recently seized the server Clinton used while Secretary of State from a cybersecurity company she hired in 2013 to manage the system. She has denied any wrongdoing, but is struggling to hide her frustration with the ongoing questions and negative press. How Did The Presidential Candidates
Do This Weekend In Ohio?
This weekend, five presidential candidates showed up
for Americans For Prosperity’s annual Defending the Dream summit in Columbus,
Ohio. This was an opportunity for candidates to polish their fiscally
conservative credentials.
This weekend; Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, and Marco Rubio all made their pitches to the gathering of conservative and libertarian activists. Some had more success than others. I was there to watch all five speeches and here’s how I think they went down.
Jeb Bush: He was literally the first speaker at the event. He talked a lot about his record in Florida, which is pretty impressive to fiscal conservatives. The speech was focused a lot on restoring a sense of competency to government. The crowd was polite, but cold. The applause was tepid at times, but there was nothing that the crowd didn’t entirely hate. He stayed away from Common Core and immigration. It was probably the worst speech of the five candidates, but not because of anything Bush said or did, it was just simply the others were better. Grade C
Ted Cruz: Probably the biggest rockstar at the event. He led off Saturday’s speakers. He was passionate, hit the points the activists cared about, and portrayed himself as the anti-Washington candidate in the race. He was fiery and had the crowd on their feet numerous times. After the speech, Cruz went into the crowd where has was mobbed by the audience. The only problem was that Cruz didn’t get much into specifics. Cruz though was likely the clear winner of the event. Grade A+.
Bobby Jindal: The Louisiana governor also did very well. He told everyone about his life story and spent a good bit of time on illegal immigration. He pushed his plan to make mayors and councilmen of “sanctuary cities” criminally liable for any crimes committed by illegal immigrants in their jurisdiction. Jindal also reminded everyone that he was the only governor in the race who cut spending. Jindal also attacked everyone, but only mentioned four names: Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders. He also did it in a way that did not seem desperate. All in all, a great performance by Jindal that was only overshadowed by Cruz and he was the clear winner of Friday. Grade A.
Rick Perry: Perry gave all in all a pretty good speech. He talked about his humble upbringing, which I knew nothing about before hand. He talked his fights with the Obama administration as Texas governor. Common Core was a large segment of his speech as Perry reminded everyone that he was the only governor who opposed it from the beginning. Perry also attacked Trump on immigration. Although this was one of Perry’s better speeches, it came off as desperate. As far as many of the activists in attendance were concerned, Perry’s time had come and gone. He did nothing to change that narrative. Grade B.
Marco Rubio: This was an off day for the junior Senator from Florida. His jokes fell flat, his speech’s tone was that of a college lecture, and the audience really didn’t respond to him until the end. The speech itself focused a lot on the problems but he really didn’t offer many solutions. He essentially rehashed a lot of his stump speeches and it showed. When Rubio went into the crowd after his speech, the crowd really didn’t mob him the way they did Ted Cruz. Rubio is capable of doing much better and this has to be considered a missed opportunity for him. Grade C. Source: AAN

Donald Trump Doesn’t Hide How He Really
Feels After Fox News Host Megyn Kelly Returns From Vacation
·

·
Presidential candidate Donald Trump reignited tension
with the Fox News Channel Monday night by blasting primetime host Megyn Kelly
following her return from a 10-day vacation. The real estate mogul wrote in a
tweet that he thought “The Kelly File” was a better program without Kelly
hosting the show.
Trump also retweeted several fans who slammed Kelly,
including one in which an individual referred to her as a “bimbo.”
A Fox News spokesperson could not be reached for comment, but a
representative for the cable-news network did previously say in a
statement that Kelly’s vacation had been pre-scheduled and was not in connection to her feud with Trump.
Kelly has become the subject of criticism from Trump
and his fans after she pressed him two weeks ago during the first GOP debate
about derogatory comments he previously made toward women. For her part, Kelly
has mostly refused to address the attacks, only saying that she stands
by her questioning and
would not apologize.
Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes had called Trump earlier this month to discuss his concerns with the
network’s coverage of his campaign. He said in a statement that the air had
been cleared. Nevertheless, Trump has continued to go after the cable news
channel.
House
Just Passed “Donald Trump Act” – Sends Big Message to Obama!
Love him or hate him, Donald Trump is shining a
massive spotlight on President Barack Obama’s amnesty agenda.
Trump knows that the border is so unprotected that
dangerous criminals and terrorists can cross into America with ease.
That’s why the U.S. House of Representatives just
issued a major defeat to Obama! Known as the “Donald Trump Act,” House
Resolution 3099 takes direct aim at cities which don’t enforce federal laws
about sanctuary cities.
The House passed it by an overwhelming 241-197 vote.
This is a big deal!
Sanctuary cities have
come under heavy scrutiny in the wake of Kathryn Steinle’s death on July 1 in
San Francisco. Authorities charged Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez with her
killing. Lopez-Sanchez, who is in the U.S. illegally, has a history of felony convictions
and has been deported five times.
“Just a few weeks
into his campaign and Donald Trump has a bill on the floor of the House. That
is better than some of the senators he’s running against.” Rep. Luis Gutiérrez
(D-Ill.) said mockingly.
Orlando Sentinel: Orange School Board bans outside Bibles, Satanic
materials in schools…
The Orange County School Board voted to restrict
religious materials. (Video from Fox 35)
Board bans giveaways of Satanic materials, Bibles in
schools
Materials ban was prompted by request from Satanic
Temple group
Orange County students will no longer face the
possibility of being offered Satanic coloring books or Bibles between classes under
a new policy adopted by the School Board on Tuesday night.
The board has been considering such a change since a
group called The Satanic Temple asked last fall for permission to distribute a
Satanic coloring book and two fact sheets to Orange students.
But most of the debate Tuesday was over whether the
board should ban just religious materials — or those from all outside groups.
"That would be an injustice to groups that
provide great programs to our students," said board chair Bill Sublette,
citing Little League, football teams, the YMCA and Boys & Girls Clubs as
examples. "Some things are worth fighting for."
Most of the speakers Tuesday encouraged the board to
insulate itself against lawsuits by banning all outside materials.
"It is not the School Board's job to promote
religion of any kind," said Warren Geltch of Orlando.
- Handouts
are advertising, religious or otherwise. Why would we require much less
allow these in the schools? And handing out bibles? If you allow bibles,
then all sould be allowed. But really, do you want to? "The board
also Tuesday adopted a resolution asking the governor to delay...
- A few others, including Conway Middle
School seventh-grader Rhiannon Dodson, urged the board to leave the policy
as is to encourage an exchange of ideas.
"Don't bar kids from learning and growing,"
she said. Nothing in the policy would prevent a teacher from using the Bible or
other religious materials as historical documents in a class.
The Liberty Counsel, which is representing World
Changers of Florida, the group that gave out the Bibles, has said that stopping
groups from giving out religious materials in schools is unconstitutional, and
that they intend to sue.
Board members, who said they are on solid legal
ground, voted 7-1 to approve a policy based on those in Miami-Dade and Broward
counties, which allow passive distribution of some materials, but nothing that
is religious, political or sectarian.
For three years, the district allowed Bibles to be
distributed to students in schools based on a court decision that required a
similar giveaway in Collier County schools.
The district also ended up letting in materials
provided by an atheist group, the Central Florida Freethought Community, that
sued in an attempt to stop the Bible giveaways.
But after the request from The Satanic Temple, the
district cut off all religious-material distribution, pending a possible policy
change.
After Tuesday's decision, the organizer of the local
Satanic Temple chapter said she was disappointed that it took her group's
request to prompt action.
Other than Christian groups, "they'd rather not
have any other groups distribute materials," said the organizer, who goes
by the name Tabitha Burns out of concerns for her safety. "The message
we're putting forward is tolerance and personal liberty," she said.
David Williamson, with the Central Florida Freethought
Community, said the decision is a "victory for Orange County
students" — if religious-materials giveaways do not return to schools.
The board also Tuesday adopted a resolution asking the
governor to delay school and district grades, as well as hold students and
teachers harmless for scores on this year's new state tests.
The resolution asks for the accountability system to
be fully funded, to minimize the number of tests student have to take and to
ensure the tests they do take are grade-appropriate.
