Israel's Netanyahu Says Iran Nuclear Deal a 'Historic Mistake'
JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the agreement between world powers and Iran as a ‘historic mistake’ that doesn’t bind his country.
Israel has “the right and obligation” to defend itself and won’t allow Iran to develop the capability to build atomic weapons, Netanyahu said today at a cabinet meeting in Jerusalem.
“What was achieved last night in Geneva is not historic; it is a historic mistake. Today, the world has become a much more dangerous place,” he said in comments broadcast on Israel Radio. “Israel is not bound by this agreement.”

Diplomats said they had a deal early today, the fifth day of meetings in Geneva. The first accord since the Iranian nuclear program came under international scrutiny in 2003 eases sanctions on Iran in exchange for concessions on its atomic work.
Israel’s rejection of the agreement puts it at odds with its closest ally, the U.S., which led the efforts to reach a deal with Iran. An administration official said President Barack Obama would call Netanyahu today to discuss the accord.
Israel wanted world powers to oblige Iran to stop enriching uranium and dismantle an unfinished heavy water reactor at Arak that could eventually produce plutonium, materials that could be used to produce weapons. The Geneva agreement limits uranium enrichment under close monitoring and halts any further development of the Arak reactor.
“This deal will create a new arms race that includes the Middle East,” Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said. Finance Minister Yair Lapid said he was concerned that the accord means “the world is no longer listening to Israel.”
Israeli officials have described Iran’s nuclear program as an existential threat, saying all options are on the table to stop it, including a military strike.
“The Iranian regime is committed to Israel’s destruction, and Israel has the right to defend itself, by itself,” Netanyahu said to his cabinet. “Israel won’t let Iran develop military nuclear capability.”
Iran says its program is intended for peaceful purposes.
Israeli Economy Minister Naftali Bennett said yesterday that any deal Israel perceived as bad would increase the chances it would consider military force against Iran.
“A bad deal definitely increases the need for action,” Bennett said on Channel Two television. “If the deal gives Iran the ability to achieve a bomb within six weeks, we won’t be able to sit idly by.”
Alex Zabezhinsky, chief economist at Tel Aviv-based Meitav DS Investment House Ltd., said the agreement reduced risks.
“The deal reduces the risk of military action on Iran by the West or Israel,” he said by phone. “As a result, we are likely to see Israel’s country risk decline.”
Eldad Pardo, a lecturer on Iranian affairs at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said Israel opposes the agreement because its interim nature recalls the 1993 Oslo Accords with the Palestinians, which never ripened into a final peace deal.
“If you reach very quick agreements on what is easy and leave the difficult issues to some future, it may take years,” he said.
Now with Iran, “there is a kind of temporary agreement that will lead to another temporary agreement,” he said. “This isn’t a first step within an agreed-upon structure of where we are heading.”

Dershowitz: Iran Deal 'Cataclysmic Error of Gigantic Proportions' By Greg Richter
Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz said Sunday that the Obama administration was naive and had possibly made a "cataclysmic error of gigantic proportions" in its deal to ease sanctions on Iran in exchange for an opening up of the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
"I think it could turn out to be a cataclysmic error of gigantic proportions," Dershowitz said of the deal, which he described as "naive."
"It could also turn out to be successful, to be the beginning of a negotiated resolution," Dershowitz told Newsmax on Sunday. "But I think the likelihood of it being the former is considerably greater."
Dershowitz said he thought the administration of President Barack Obama did a poor job of negotiating the deal.
"I think it's thoughtful and intelligent Americans vs. naive Americans," he said.
The deal, announced late Saturday night in the United States, makes it more likely Iran will develop a nuclear bomb, likely creating the need for a future military strike by Israel or the United States, Dershowitz said.
It also increases the possibility of a nuclear arms race in the Middle East with Saudi Arabia obtaining nuclear weapons as well, he said.
The Harvard Law School professor thinks there is at best a 10 percent chance that the administration can change attitudes among Iran's Islamist leadership.
"But when you weigh that against the 30 or 40 percent chance that they're dead wrong – nuclear bomb wrong – then it's a very bad assessment of risk and benefits," he told Newsmax.
"This is first-year negotiating theory, and this administration gets a D-minus with grade inflation," Dershowitz said. "You don't let up on sanctions that are working."
Other countries, such as China, are taking the deal as a green light to do business with Iran, he said. All the nuclear experts, Iran experts and congressional experts he has spoken with oppose the deal, he said.
Israel has spoken out against the deal, and Saudi Arabia is known to be wary of Iran. But it is a mistake to think of it as a dispute between Israel and Saudi Arabia on one hand and the United States on the other, Dershowitz said. "This is a highly disputed and contested issue within the United States."
Dershowitz counts himself among the skeptics.
"I think it's a bad deal for America and a bad deal for the West," he said. "The risks to world peace are far greater than the potential benefits to world peace."
American negotiators used the wrong model, Dershowitz said. They used the model of Syria where the administration "accidentally backed into a good result instead of the North Korea model, which is much more parallel.
"North Korea does not pose a direct threat to the United States. Iran does," Dershowitz said. "You think that we'd learn from our mistakes in North Korea."
Dershowitz said that if Iran fails to comply, he hopes Congress ratchets up the sanctions once the six months are complete. But he isn't sure that will be possible since China and other nations will be doing business with them by then.
"I think we have hurt our sanction regime irretrievably by this measure," he said.
Congress should take preemptive action by passing authorization in advance to allow the president to increase sanctions and deploy the military option in the event Iran crosses a red line, Dershowitz said. That way, the president doesn't have to go to Congress after red lines are crossed.
"I think that would send a powerful message to Iran that the military option is still on the table," he said.
Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton suggested the White House struck the deal out of fear that Israel would attack Iran's nuclear facilities as it did those of Iraq in 1981 and Syria in 2007.
Dershowitz said that since Israel was not consulted on the agreement, it isn't bound by it and is within its rights to defend itself.
Israel "has the absolute right to prevent a country that has threatened its destruction from developing nuclear weapons," he said. "That's a right in law, it's a right in morality, and it's a right in diplomacy."

Después del acuerdo nuclear con Irán, que ha sido catalogado por el premier de Israel como un colosal error que puede traer serias consecuencias, tenemos que enfrentarnos a la realidad, dejar de lamentarnos y ser pragmáticos.
El futuro es Islámico, tenemos que acostumbrarnos a la idea que pronto viviremos bajo el Califato Mundial.
Por lo que tenemos que ir aprendiendo la etiqueta de las mezquitas que nos ofrece el Centro Islámico del Sur de la Florida la cual estoy reproduciendo como una cortesía para que vayan aprendiendo sus deberes futuros cuando acepten a Allah y a Mahoma su profeta.
Algunos de los cambios con el nuevo sistema de vida bajo el Islam, quizás les resulten agradable a los hombres, ya que el profeta siempre reconoció la realidad de la superioridad del hombre sobre la mujer y la necesidad de una obediencia incondicional de la mujer al hombre.
Pero aquí están las instrucciones para su asistencia a la mezquita:
Cuando los hermanos y hermanas se dirijan a la mezquita, las mujeres deben de caminar diez pasos detrás del hombre como demostración de su inferioridad y obediencia. Una vez que entren a la mezquita cada uno debe de ir a su lugar de oración por separado. Los hombres y las mujeres deben de orar por separados porque a Allah no le gusta el relajo de hombres y mujeres mezclados en su casa.
Los hermanos deben usar vestimenta apropiada antes de entrar en la mezquita. No deben de usar camisetas con fotos y dibujos cómicos que pueden distraer a la gente en oración. No pantalones cortos arriba de las rodillas son permitidos para el hombre enseñando los pelos de las piernas. Los pelos son muy importante en el Islam, son un causal de lujuria sexual por la relación con el pelo pélvico.
También debe cubrirse la parte superior del cuerpo no enseñar la barriga o el pecho enseñando el tórax peludo con una medalla.
Esto no sólo puede producir lujuria, pero puede producir distracción o vómitos a los hermanos en oración.
2. Las hermanas deben de usar hiyab en todo tiempo, cubrir todo su cuerpo y rostro con ropa holgada, no: se permiten pantalones ni vestidos ajustados, mucho menos escotes que muestren el nacimiento de los senos. Las faldas largas son permitidas si son lo suficientemente largas para cubrir hasta los tobillos y no son demasiado apretadas como para mostrar la forma del cuerpo. De ninguna manera deben de enseñar todo o parte del pelo que puede causar lujuria y provocar el ataque de un hermano tentado por la relación del pelo de la cabeza con el pelo pélvico.
3. Asegúrese de que los pies y medias estén limpios. También se lavan las axilas. Demasiado a menudo los olores de los cuerpos en las mezquitas impiden a los nuevos hermanos abrir la boca para adorar a Allah. Después que todos se acostumbren a los olores del Islam podrán abandonar la costumbre de los infieles de asearse..
4. Nunca caminen afuera del Masjid descalzo especialmente si vas al baño o Wudu hay muchos hermanos que tienen poca puntería y te puedes contaminar los pies con gérmenes nocivos de las deposiciones del cuerpo de otros.
5. Está totalmente prohibido para quien está en el estado de janabat [una impureza ritual causada por la descarga de semen por pensamientos eróticos] entrar en la mezquita. Sólo después de haber realizado la necesaria el ghusl(ablución mayor de descarga) puede una persona entrar en la mezquita
6. Está totalmente prohibido que una mujer musulmana que se encuentra en el estado de Hayd (menstruación) para entrar en la mezquita
Hay que recordar que Allah y Mahoma su profeta son muy sensibles a la sexualidad, y siempre están pensando en los asuntos sexuales, por eso hablamos tanto de ellos.
.Para las modalidades de estos deberes consulte libros sobre las leyes islámicas. Los puede conseguir en cualquier 7 Eleven o estación de gasolina del dependiente que generalmente es un hermano Islamita.
Para cualquiera que entre a una iglesia o sinagoga estas reglas no se aplican, porque van a ser sacrificados por infieles de todas maneras

Se puede estar en desacuerdo con Mitch McConell en algunas cosas, pero estas palabras del Jueves, reflejan la realidad de la presente situación política.
El Presidente y sus aliados demócratas que estaban decididos a forzar su visión del cuidado de la salud para el público, les aseguraron que no perderían los planes que tenían, y que les ahorraría dinero en vez de perderlo y que serían capaces de seguir usando a los médicos y hospitales que estaban usando.
Pero claro ahora que sabemos que era sólo retórica que no coincide con la realidad.
Yo estaría probablemente corriendo para escaparme también si hubiera apoyado esta ley.
Podría estar buscando algo para cambiar el tema al igual que los demócratas del Senado han estado haciendo con sus amenazas nucleares de Irán y cambiar las reglas del Senado sobre las nominaciones.

Desde mi dos exilios en los Estados Unidos, el exilio de rosas cuando vine a estudiar en los años cincuenta, y el exilio de espinas después que me cambiaron el juego en mi patria cuando mi pueblo aceptó como bueno el socialismo materialista ateo, una de las cosas que más me ha llamado la atención es la celebración del día de Acción de Gracias que no existía en nuestro país.
Este día, y fue mi sorpresa, superaba como celebración a Dios inclusive as las pascuas al nacimiento de Cristo, aunque el país era predominantemente cristiano. Ese día se respetaba sin fiestas de baile y música como las pascuas y año nuevo, pero en una comida con una reunión familiar de respeto, recordación y oración dándole gracias a Dios por lo que nos ha dado.
La parte bíblica que más se repite en este día de acción de gracias es el Salmo 100
Salmo 100:4 Entrad por sus puertas con acción de gracias,
Por sus atrios con alabanza;
Alabadle, bendecid su nombre.
100:5 Porque Jehová es bueno; para siempre es su misericordia,
Y su verdad por todas las generaciones
Si reflexionamos bien esto se encuentra en el libro de Salmos en el antiguo testamento, escrito por David, rey de Israel.
Lo que he notado con el tiempo que el día de Acción de Gracias puede ser celebrado por todos los que creen en Dios, este día lo puede celebrar tanto un cristiano católico como uno protestante o evangélico asi mismo como un judío y hasta un musulmán.
Ese día se quedan solos los materialistas ateos.
Esto es lo que hace diferente no sólo la evolución democrática de los Estados Unidos, sino su nacimiento, diferente al de otros países del mundo, incluyendo los nuestros países latinoamericanos.
Los que vinieron a lo que es hoy los Estados Unidos, fueron personas que vinieron, no con el motivo de encontrar oro y tesoros como los conquistadores españoles, pero para encontrar la libertad de adorar a su Dios sin ser perseguidos por sus creencias.
El materialismo ateo que está tratando la secularización de las fiestas, tanto las pascuas como el día de acción de Gracias, han logrado que abran las tiendas en el día de Acción de Gracias, lo que hubiera sido un anatema en tiempos anteriores, y han logrado que algunas tiendas traten de eliminar el tradicional saludo de Felices Pascuas, o Feliz dia de acción de Gracias por Felices Fiestas.
Creo que para los materialistas ateos les es imposible lograr su meta, para celebrar el día de dar gracias a Dios hay que creer en Dios, y para celebrar las “fiestas” todas las fiestas son por Dios y para Dios. Por más que quieran no pueden borrar a Dios de las "fiestas".
Las fiestas puedes ser celebradas como quieran, y por los que crean de una manera o de otra, pero es el espíritu de los peregrinos lo que se celebra el Día de Acción de Gracias, el espíritu de que el hombre es libre para tener una relación con Dios sin que haya nadie que se lo impida.
No creo que los materialistas ateos han ganado la batalla de eliminar a Dios de la vida de los Estados Unidos, solamente han impuesto unas leyes humanas para hacer más difícil nuestra relación pública con Dios, pero como el Imperio Romano no pudo eliminar las creencias de los primeros cristianos, sólo reprimirlas, nadie puede eliminar las creencias personales de los creemos en Dios.
Cuando nos reunimos el próximo jueves con nuestras familias para celebrar la cena del día de Acción de Gracias, tenemos que recordar de que se trata, de reconocer y dar gracias al Dios de nuestra existencia y entre esas Gracias es la libertad que tenemos de poder creer en Dios.

Nov 21 (Reuters) - California's new health exchange will not allow canceled policies to extend past the end of the year, defying President Barack Obama's effort to repair his pledge that people can keep their current plans.
The announcement on Thursday by the most populous U.S. state, an early supporter of Obama's Affordable Care Act, marked the latest state to reject the president's fix, which he announced last week after taking political fire for not keeping his promise to allow people to keep their plans if they like them.
Several million people stand to have their individual health insurance canceled at some point in 2014 because their plans do not comply with new requirements, such as coverage for mental health treatment and maternity care.
California also said that nearly 80,000 people had signed up for private plans through its state-run marketplace, showing momentum with its sign-ups at a time the federally run website continues to struggle with technical problems.
Obama has left it up to individual states to decide whether to allow his policy cancellation fix. State insurance commissioners met with the president at the White House on Wednesday and expressed concerns that his effort to stem the cancellations could lead to higher premiums.
Under the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, new state marketplaces offering subsidized coverage are expected to enroll an estimated 7 million Americans for coverage next year.
California is one of 14 states that built its own insurance exchange. Such state-run exchanges in general have been working fairly smoothly since enrollment began Oct 1.
By contrast, HealthCare.gov, the federal website that is supposed to sell insurance with government subsidies in 36 states, has turned many people away with technical problems. During October, only about 27,000 people enrolled through the federally run marketplace.
Like California, other states running their own exchanges have decided against the existing-plan fix, including Minnesota, Nevada, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York and Washington.
Of other states running their own exchanges, Maryland has said insurers can only do these fixes between now and midnight on Jan. 1. Hawaii and Oregon, which have had website issues since their launches, plus Colorado and Kentucky, have all said they will extend policies. Connecticut is still deciding and Washington D.C. is also on the fence.
Florida, Missouri, Ohio, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina, which all depend on HealthCare.gov, have all said they will allow insurers to extend policies next year, which will allow plans to stay in place until 2015. Other states relying on the federal site, such as Pennsylvania and Michigan, remain undecided.

But in California, although the state's insurance commissioner, Dave Jones, strongly favored Obama's fix, he said he needed the state's new insurance exchange, Covered California, to release insurers from contractual obligations that they cancel policies that did not comply with the law by year end.
Covered California's board decided on Thursday not to allow people to stay in non-compliant plans beyond the end of the year.
"Covered California has spent a lot of time structuring a marketplace that's best for consumers," the exchange's executive director, Peter Lee, told the board before it voted on Thursday.

NEW YORK - In New York, a 78-year-old woman strolling in her neighborhood was punched in the head by a stranger and tumbled to the ground. In Washington, a 32-year-old woman was swarmed by teenagers on bikes, and one clocked her in the face. In Jersey City, a 46-year-old man died after someone sucker-punched him and he struck his head on an iron fence.
In each case, police are investigating whether the attacks are part of a violent game called "knockout," where the object is to target unsuspecting pedestrians with the intention of knocking them out cold with one punch. Authorities and psychologists say the concept has been around for decades - or longer - and it's played mostly by impulsive teenage boys looking to impress their friends.
"It's hard to excuse this behavior, there's no purpose to this," said Jeffrey Butts, a psychologist specializing in juvenile delinquency at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. "When someone runs into a store and demands money, you can sort of understand why they're doing it, desperation, whatever. But just hitting someone for the sheer thrill of seeing if you can knock someone out is just childish."
At least two deaths have been linked to the game this year and police have seen a recent spike in similar attacks.
New York City police have deployed additional officers to city neighborhoods where at least seven attacks occurred in the past few weeks, including the assault on the 78-year-old woman. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said some are smacked, some are more seriously assaulted, and some harassed. The department's hate crimes task force is investigating, because some attacks have been against Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn.
In Washington, D.C., police were investigating two assaults in the past week, both of which resulted in minor injuries but not unconsciousness.
One victim, Phoebe Connolly, of Brattleboro, Vt., said she was randomly punched in the face by a teenager while riding her bike during a work-related visit to Washington last Friday. Connolly, who is 32 and works with teenagers in her job, said the blow knocked her head to the side and bloodied her nose.
"I don't know what the goal was," she said. "There wasn't any attempt to take anything from me."
A recent media blitz about the game circulating on television stations and online isn't helping, Connolly and experts said, especially because images are being repeatedly broadcast of victims in a dead fall, smacking the ground with a limp thud. The viral footage comes from older incidents: In one instance from 2012, 50-year-old Pittsburg English teacher James Addlespurger was punched in the face and falls to the curb. The image was caught on surveillance cameras, and a 15-year-old was arrested.
"The behavior of the sudden assault of someone who seems helpless has appealed to the idiotic impulsive quality of adolescence forever," said Butts. "But there are now bragging rights beyond your immediate circle, when this is on television and online."
Paul Boxer, a psychology professor at Rutgers University who studies aggressive behavior, said Thursday the media stories may perpetuate the assaults, but most teens clearly aren't unfeeling sociopaths.
"You've got some impressionable kids, already with a propensity for violence who could be affected by this," he said. "But not because they are hoping to hurt somebody, it's more about risk taking, and new, different and exciting ways of getting into trouble."
In Lower Merion, a leafy suburb near Philadelphia, two attacks may be related to the game.
"We do worry that it's something like that ... because we've had two similar assaults, neither one of which resulted in a robbery," said Lt. Frank Higgins of the Lower Merion Township Police Department.
In one, two 19-year-olds were charged with knocking down a 63-year-old man out walking his dog the evening of Oct. 29. They were arrested nearby a short time later, and have been charged with assault, Higgins said. No arrests were made in the other incident from September.
Also in September in Jersey City, N.J., two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old were charged as juveniles in the murder of 46-year-old Ralph Eric Santiago. He was found Sept. 10 with his neck broken and his head wedged between iron fence posts. Hudson County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Gene Rubino has said that his office believes the teens were playing the game.
In late May in Syracuse, a group of teenagers attempting to knock Michael Daniels out with a single punch wound up beating and stomping him to death, according to police. A 16-year-old was found guilty of manslaughter, and his 13-year-old co-defendant pleaded guilty to assault, admitting he started the fatal beating by trying to knock out Daniels with a single punch. Both were sentenced to 18 months behind bars.
And earlier in May, Elex Murphy, now 20, was sentenced to life in prison plus 25 years in St. Louis for killing a Vietnamese immigrant as part the game in 2011.
Juvenile delinquency experts say the best punishments for these teens would be empathy training, such as volunteering at a homeless shelter. But a New York lawmaker proposed a bill this week that would make stricter sentences not only for those who do the punching, but for those who publish images online and watch the attacks.
"These twisted and cowardly thugs are preying on innocent bystanders and they don't care if the victims are young, old, a man or woman," GOP state Assemblyman Jim Tedisco said. "Life isn't a video game. These are real people whose lives are not only being put in jeopardy but in many cases destroyed."

For 224 years it protected the rights of the minority party.
But yesterday, Senate Democrats killed it.
They didn't reform the filibuster. They vaporized it.
The message is clear: Obama and Senate Democrats will soon open the floodgates and jam the federal courts and executive agencies with as many radical anti-life and anti-family appointments as possible.
Left-wing radicals are growing impatient and many are now worried. With Obama's approval ratings plummeting to record lows of 40%, their agenda is in jeopardy.
So it is not surprising they pushed for this extraordinary step of changing the Senate rules. And I suspect they aren’t done yet.
The battle for the Senate in 2014 is now on.
Let’s face it, the only way to put the brakes on this reckless power grab is to rebalance the Senate by removing the extremist Democratic majority.
Historically, the president's party suffers losses in a mid-term election, especially during a sitting president's second term. And 2014 has all the markings of a title wave against the Democratic Party. What's more, Senate Democrats have to defend 21 seats, whereas Republicans have only 14 seats up for election.
For example, pundits project that Democrats will lose the Senate seat in Montana. And several incumbents in red states are polling under 50%, including Democrats Mary Landrieu in Louisiana, Mark Begich in Alaska, and Mark Pryor in Arkansas. If Obama's approval remains around 40% come Election Day, Senate races in Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota could become competitive.
We have a real shot at winning back the Senate - and putting a stop to Harry Reid’s power grab.
Senate Democrats know this possibility is around the corner. That's why they're becoming more lawless every minute.
Winning back the Senate can't be done in just one day. The groundwork needed to do this begins today.

Exilio político no quiere decir que la persona exilada necesariamente tenga que ser un político, en muchos casos es todo lo contrario.
En el caso de nosotros lo cubanos es así, la mayoría de nosotros, no éramos políticos,fuimos exilados escapando de los políticos.
Éramos trabajadores, profesionales y empresarios que no pudimos vivir bajo un sistema en que la libertad para ejercer nuestra profesión, nuestro trabajo o el derecho a la propiedad y la libertad de empresa nos fueron negados por un sistema político.
Ese era Miami en los años sesenta y setenta, un pueblo lleno de exilados de un sistema político foráneo a nuestra historia, con diferentes vertientes pero un enemigo común, el sistema que nos robó la patria y nuestro sistema de vida.
Extraño aquel Miami tanto como extraño a Cuba.
La corta presidencia de tres años de J.F. Kennedy fue parte integral de aquel exilio, antes y después de su muerte.
Tenemos que enfrentarnos a una realidad en cuanto a Kennedy, nosotros los exilados cubanos no podemos ser objetivos en cuanto a J.F.Kennedy, porque su incapacidad como gobernante nos costó el regreso a la patria, pero no podemos dejar que nuestra falta de objetividad nos haga catalogar a Kennedy como cómplice del comunismo o compañero de viaje, porque no lo era
No fue Kennedy un comunista, paradójicamente Kennedy siempre fue nuestro aliado, siempre fue un enemigo de nuestro enemigo y el mayor daño de Kennedy al exilio que fue el fracaso de Bahía de Cochinos,fue realmente un caso típico de su falta de capacidad para ocupar la presidencia de los Estados Unidos, no hubo maldad, hubo incompetencia.
Fue realmente un problema con su representante ante las Naciones Unidas, Adlai Stevenson, que lo amenazó con su renuncia a Kennedy si no suspendía los bombardeos para destruir la fuerza aérea de Castro, que fue la que causó el fracaso de Bahía de Cochinos.
Ese fue el primer fracaso de Kennedy que perjudicó al exilio. Después vino la crisis de los cohetes, la inexperiencia de Kennedy y los Stevensons que tenía a su alrededor lo hicieron que a pesar de que tenía una buena mano para negociar, ya que los rusos estaban asustados, fracasó diplomáticamente cuando cedió los cohetes de Turquía y aceptó el vergonzoso pacto Kennedy-Kruschev.
Este "logro" de evitar una guerra mundial, lo hubiera logrado otro presidente sin entregar nada.
Ese fue Kennedy para nosotros, y si analizamos los hechos, no fue propiamente nuestro enemigo, fue un mal amigo. Y lo fue más por su inexperiencia y su ineficiencia que por querernos hacer daño.
Por la brevedad de su administración, nunca realmente se sabrá cuál fue el resultado de la gestión presidencial de Kennedy para los Estados Unidos domésticamente ni cuál hubiera sido si hubiera gobernado por cinco años más, aunque si sabemos que para los cubanos sus tres años fueron funestos.
Durante su presidencia JFK fue como Obama, un buen declamador pero más evidente que Obama porque en aquella época no había teleprompter.
J.F. Kennedy era un buen orador, pero como Obama, siempre leyendo sus discursos escritos por otros y siempre hasta en las más breves declaraciones tenía que leerlas.
Fue uno más de los play-boys del clan de los Kennedy, que como la canción de Juan Charrasqueado eran borrachos, mujeriegos, pendencieros y jugadores, y cuando jugó a ser estadista internacional sus derrotas nos arrastraron a nosotros los cubanos
J.F. Kennedy para los que vivimos su época , no fue más que lo que nosotros los cubanos llamamos un “postalita”. Comparar a Obama con Kennedy no está desacertado, si se refiere a personalidad, no a filosofía política ya que Kennedy a pesar de tener ideas sociales mixtas, nunca fue nada parecido a lo que hoy llamamos un “liberal” sin lugar a dudas sus ideas no eran socialistas.
El socialista Ted Kennedy no representó la política de sus hermano., Ted siempre fue el niño bobo de los hermanos Kennedy y se quiso hacer el estadista “progresista” después de muertos John y Bobby.
Todos los hermanos Kennedys, play-boys millonarios de West Palm Beach, se dedicaron a la política por presiones de su padre, el contrabandista millonario con ambiciones sociales que siempre quiso tener un hijo presidente. Por la muerte en la guerra de su hermano mayor, cayó en los hombros de JFK el cumplir las ambiciones de su padre. Su padre con sus relaciones corruptas lo llevó a la presidencia.
Logró salir con el fraude electoral más evidente en la historia de Estados Unidos. Kennedy no tenía la menor oportunidad de ganarle las elecciones al vicepresidente Richard Nixon. Pero una serie de factores le hicieron ocupar la presidencia a pesar de su falta de capacidad para el cargo.
En las elecciones ganóel voto popular, el margen de 112,827 votos, o sea el 0.17% de diferencia, si consideramos el fraude perdió por un largo margen. Este voto popular ha sido uno de los más cercanos en la historia norteamericana.
Fue el voto electoral el que le dio la victoria de 303 sobre 219, y como decía Cantinflas, “ahí está el detalle” el fraude en los votos electorales fue el que le dio la diferencia en las elecciones. La geografía política de los estados en aquella época, hizo posible el fraude
Las elecciones de 1960 siguen siendo todavía motivo de debate entre algunos historiadores sobre el evidente fraude que se produjo. En algunos estados el robo de votos que ayudó a la victoria de Kennedy fue tan evidente que resultó cómico. En Virginia un estado que conozco bien por haber residido en los 50s temporalmente mientras cursaba mis estudios, los políticos eran corruptos, racistas y demócratas como en todo Dixie. La elecciones se decidían en las primarias entre demócratas, los republicanos no contaban..
En las elecciones de Kennedy-Nixon en Virginia un estado con 14 votos electorales los demócratas recibieron 15 votos desafiando la aritmética,
Harry F. Byrd el senador y miembro declarado del KKK que murió hace poco, increíblemente apoyando a Obama, controlaba a Virginia y lo mismo otros dixiecrats que apoyaron a Kennedy en otros estados del sur.
Los Dixiecrats, eran WASP (White Anglo Saxon Protestant) pero un WASP como Byrd apoyó a un católico como Kennedy y a un negro como Obama cuando le pareció indicado para su conveniencia política.
Lo que ví en los Dixiecrats en Virginia y después al principio del exilio en la Florida, la mayoría eran unos polítiqueros corruptos. (los cubanos son sus dignos sucesores en la Florida)
En algunos estados del norte como Illinois, fue peor, el fraude de Daley en Chicago en las elecciones del 1960 fue el más abiertamente corrupto de la historia de Estados Unidos.
Estos fraudes más los primeros debates televisados en la historia de los Estados Unidos que favorecieron al bonitillo y bien preparado de Kennedy contra el rudo y confiado de Nixon, conjuntamente hicieron que unas elecciones que Nixon debía de haber ganado fácilmente se convirtieran en una derrota.
Una vez en la presidencia, Kennedy guiado por sus asesores hizo lo que en este caso era lo más indicado, soltó a los dixiecrats como un saco de papas, para hacer lo que en este caso era lo más apropiado para la reputación mundial de los Estados Unidos, comenzar en ese momento de la historia, lo que después Johnson terminó, que era la segregación en los estados del sur. Pero esto lo hubiera hecho también un republicano como Nixon, porque realmente los gobernadores y senadores del sur incluyendo la Florida, todos eran demócratas Los dixiecrats sabían que los republicanos iban a terminar con la segregación, se la jugaron con Kennedy, pero perdieron de todas maneras.
A todo el mundo le gustan los que ganan desde abajo, esto y la presencia atractiva de la pareja de los Kennedy ha creado perspectiva de una presidencia excepcional que realmente no tuvo ninguna consecuencia mayor en la historia de la nación como no hayan sido sus fracasos en política internacional.
Una vez electo presidente, cómo el propio Kennedy y todos los que le rodeaban sabían que no estaba capacitado, se rodeó de una camarilla de políticos que le proporcionó su padre, que lo asesoraban y que diseñaron su presidencia al igual que habían diseñado su campaña. Eran políticos corruptos y marañeros como Daley, pero con mucha experiencia.

(RNS) As the nation marks the 50th anniversary of the death of President John F. Kennedy on Friday (Nov. 22), many Christians will also pause to recall the death of C.S. Lewis, who died the same day, just one week short of his 65th birthday.
The British author, described by many as perhaps the 20th century’s most influential Christian intellectual and apologist, is said to have greater influence in the United States than in his own country. Yet on Friday, a memorial stone for Lewis will be added to the storied Poets’ Corner in Westminster Abbey, alongside Shakespeare, John Milton and the Bronte sisters.
Many Christians are first introduced to Lewis, a philosopher, theologian, professor and author, at an early age with “The Chronicles of Narnia,” a place where it is “always winter, but never Christmas.” For adults, his most influential work was “Mere Christianity,” where he argued that Jesus was either a lunatic, liar or Lord.
Lewis’ writings still retain cultural currency — perhaps more so in death than they ever had in life. A recent forum at New York’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church between pastor Tim Keller and Harvard Humanist chaplain Greg Epstein opened with a reading from Lewis’ “On Living in an Atomic Age.”
After the discussion, Keller said his wife had always been a huge Lewis fan, “beating me over the head with his books.”
Kathy Keller’s interest in Lewis came at a young age, when at age 12 she wrote to Lewis to tell him she was one of his few fans, and he responded — four times. The last letter from him arrived 11 days before he died.
“I wrote thinking I would console the man and tell him he had least a few admirers, not knowing he was huge,” she said. “He was formative because my whole intellectual life as a Christian was shaped of nothing but Lewis, not even the Bible.
“He was so gracious,” she said. “I didn’t know he had died until February (1964) because of course Kennedy took up all the headlines.”
Raised in the Church of Ireland but an atheist by age 15, Lewis slowly embraced Christianity through the works of authors George MacDonald, J.R.R. Tolkien and G.K. Chesterton. Lewis joined the Church of England, to the disappointment of Tolkien, who had hoped he would become a Catholic.
Lewis has been dubbed an “evangelical rock star” by The New York Times, but as the New Yorker noted, both mainline Protestants and Catholics also lay claim to him. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia invoked Lewis’ “Screwtape Letters” in an interview with New York magazine, and U2 frontman Bono named him in an interview with Focus on the Family.
One of the most remarkable things about Lewis is the range of genres he used to communicate messages about faith.
“The great appeal that Lewis has today is that he has an extraordinary range of a diversity of genre in communicating truth,” said James Houston, one of the founders of the respected Christian institution Regent College in Vancouver, who ran in Lewis’ circles while they were both at Oxford.
“He used fairy tales, mythology, poetry, science fiction, children’s stories, scholarly essays. He used the whole gamut to communicate the depths of truth.”
The Wade Center at Wheaton College, which claims the world’s largest collection of works by and about Lewis, will host several anniversary events, including “C.S. Lewis in Poets’ Corner” in London on Nov. 21-22 and “C.S. Lewis: In Memoriam” in New York on Nov. 23.
Lewis’ influence continues to grow, though it’s difficult to calculate his book sales because his books live on through various publishers. HarperOne, which publishes all of Lewis’ non-Narnia books, is approaching 10 million in sales of the C.S. Lewis Signature Classics since the publisher began the program in 2001 — with nearly 200,000 copies sold in the past year.
Lewis has been a publishing phenomenon, said Mickey Maudlin, senior vice president of HarperOne, who became a Christian by reading Lewis’ “Surprised by Joy” at 21 years old. Lewis is claimed as “one of us” by Mormons, Catholics and mainline Protestants, as well as evangelicals, Maudlin said.
“Name another author whose books are being sold more now than they were when they were alive,” he said. “His vision for the Christian life is seemingly simple while being very complex. He took the stance of explainer without being an expert.”
Lewis had many personal views about theology, but he decided to write about Christianity broadly.
“Writing on ‘Mere Christianity’ allowed him to not close any doors. So few books cross the aisle across tribes,” Maudlin said. “Catholics want to talk to other Catholics; mainline Protestants only want to talk to those in their denomination; evangelicals want to show everyone else that they’re right; no one wants to engage the culture as a whole, or very few do.”
As with many authors, Lewis’ fame came after his death. But even while he was alive, an estimated 90 percent of his income went to charity.
“There was a level of authenticity. He wasn’t flying in jets, or showed signs of getting rich off of his books,” Maudlin said. “I wonder what he might have been tempted to say if he was worried about profits.”

This is a man who was granted the extraordinary luxury of attending one of the most prestigious universities in the world. He went to law school. He told us he was an expert on constitutional law. He taught students about the U.S. Constitution.
He is now our president and fills a rather large role in executing that Constitution.
And it is as if he has never read the actual Constitution. Or, as if he read it and found it all so confusing that he simply could not comprehend one of the most basic tenets of it — that the legislature writes laws, which then go to the president for either his signature or veto.
Presidents do not get to write laws. They do not get to ignore laws they do not like or make up new ones on a whim.
Presidents do not get to refuse to negotiate with Congress on financial matters because the president doesn’t like what Congress has been urgently instructed to do by voters. He doesn’t get to make end runs around Congress.
The previous administration felt so constrained by this immutable precept of the Constitution that administration lawyers took advantage of confusing parts of laws passed by Congress and wrote their own understanding of what those gray areas meant — obviously tilted as much in their favor as possible.
Democrats in Congress and the left howled in horror at this reach outside of the Constitution for tiny little scraps of power — even though presidents ever since James Monroe have used this power.
Democrats held hearings about the unchecked abuse of power and warned of a sinister “unitary executive” secretly thwarting Congress and trashing the Constitution.
Whatever you thought of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney’s “signing statements,” you would have to agree that the constitutionality of them was, at the very least, debatable. Their legality was not a slam dunk either way.
But do you know what is not debatable? What is not debatable is whether Mr. Obama can take a properly passed law such as the Defense of Marriage Act, and simply refuse to enforce it. He is not allowed to wave his hand and determine that millions of illegal immigrants now in the U.S. are suddenly legal.
Nor is he allowed to single-handedly gut hard-fought welfare reform laws that were constitutionally enacted by a Republican-controlled Congress and a Democratic president.
Mr. Obama has skirted, trampled and violated the Constitution so many times that it will be hard for any future president not to simply agree that doing so has now become precedent.
He has already rewritten the health care law so many times that it has become commonplace. Is there no aspect of that law — or any law — that he does not believe a president can simply rewrite?
And it is completely without shame that he has repeatedly violated the Constitution, even when the courts strike him down such as they did over his refusal to get Senate approval for his nominations. It is as if he read the Constitution, studied it and even taught it. But, in the end, determined that it only applied to other presidents. Not him.
OK, so the drunken rages of Toronto’s Mr. Ford have been entertaining. Clearly, smoking crack should not be condoned and it is certainly illegal. But whatever damage he is doing to the mayoralty of Toronto will probably pass on with him and the circus will be over.
What Mr. Obama is doing is not funny and cannot be undone. The mockery he is making of one of the greatest documents for human freedom in history cannot be erased.
If he moves on, all future presidents will be left with a new precedent and a map to unchecked tyranny.

La Ancianidad
Individualmente, una persona es anciana si se siente anciana, tenga la edad que tengan. Hay ancianos Jóvenes y jóvenes ancianos.
Según avanzan los años, según el individuo, hay diferentes maneras de reaccionar.
Una de ellas es que lo disimule y lo oculte, o bien, en positivo, que lo acepte,
Paradójicamente en la aceptación está realmente la prolongación de la calidad de vida, porque en cualquier etapa de la vida, lo adecuado es que se viva y disfrute con la naturalidad de las manifestaciones físicas de la edad.
He visto personas en sus setenta y ochenta que no se consideraban ancianos todavía, he conocido a ancianos que murieron en plena juventud.
Y he conocido personas que cuando pasan la juventud y llegan a la edad madura, automáticamente se convierten en ancianos con una actitud de derrota y terminando su existencia productiva para la sociedad y para ellos mismos.
Todas las manifestaciones físicas tienen que ser asumidas por la persona según su edad de una manera positiva
Aceptar, con la elegancia de la verdad, el aspecto físico sin ocultarlo artificialmente, aunque tampoco exhibirlo o agrandarlo.
No ocultar el resultado patente del declive, de la decadencia externa ni abandonarse a la aceptación de que la vida ha terminado por cualquier etapa cronológica de nuestra estancia en este mundo.
Es bueno ver a mujeres orgullosas sus nietos y de sí mismas, verlas arregladas, sin exceso, alegres, vitales, ostentando con gracia su atractiva belleza de los setenta u ochenta años.
Opuesta es la figura dramática de los que pretenden mantener una imagen juvenil, falsa, mediante la pelea contra la edad en la manera de vestirse, por intervenciones varias, abuso de cosméticos en las mujeres y peluquines y tintes en los hombres.
Lo grave no es envejecer, pero tratar de disimularlo.
Hay un lugar, una discoteca geriátrica, en la calle ocho que la chispa criolla ha bautizado como el “Palacio de las Arrugas”-Es patético ver como se reúnen en ese salón hombres y mujeres de la tercera edad tratando de mantener la ilusión de las conquistas amorosas de la juventud-.
Según avanzan los años, no sólo hay que sobreponerse a los sentimientos de la juventud perdida, pero hay que luchar contra la percepción de los cronológicamente más jóvenes que consideran que estamos en el umbral de la muerte y se dirigen a nosotros tratándonos como pre-cadáveres con preguntas con un carácter condescendiente con una actitud falsamente bondadosa cuando hablan con nosotros.
Según se va poniendo uno más viejo tiene que aprender ciertas frases para responder a lo que los jóvenes nos preguntan “¿cómo está?
Estas son las mejores respuestas positivas.
“Voy tirando” Es una frase típica, oscura e indeterminada. Muy usada y muy importante porque libera de dar explicaciones sin decir nada. Es admitida por todos y satisface a todos.
Y realmente no estamos mintiendo, cuando llegamos a cierta edad hay la tendencia de ir tirando los gases del cuerpo en momentos inesperados.
También puede hacer alardes positivos, “estoy como el oro y el vino, mientras más viejo más fino”.
Lo que nunca hay que hacer son respuestas negativas, “aquí esperando a que me llegue la hora”, esto no solo una falta de dignidad, pero un estado de ánimo que va contra la aceptación natural de la edad. Se aceptan los años porque están presentes, no se acepta la muerte hasta que no llegue en un futuro impredecible a cualquier edad.
Tenemos que aceptar positivamente que según pasan los años y se llega a los que llama vejez, lo que estamos teniendo no es reamente un deterioro, pero la continuidad de un proceso de la vida de un crecimiento intelectual, emocional y psicológico. Se hace un resumen de lo que se ha vivido hasta el momento y se logra felicitarse por la vida que ha conseguido, aun reconociendo ciertos fracasos y errores. Es un período en el que se goza de los logros personales y se contemplan los frutos del trabajo personal útiles para las generaciones venideras.
Un período en que tenemos la oportunidad de conocer a los hijos de nuestros hijos, En esta etapa es en la que adquirimos un nuevo rol: el de ser abuelo. El nieto compensa la separación familiar del hijo para crear una nueva familia. La partida del hijo y la llegada del nieto son dos caras de la misma moneda. El nuevo rol de abuelo conlleva la idea de perpetuidad. Los abuelos cumplen una función de continuidad y transmisión de tradiciones familiares. A través de los nietos se transmite el pasado, la historia familiar.
